Zoladex side effect

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I've been on zoladex for the last 12 months for pmdd, has anybody found their mental health has been affected by taking this? I have been tried on 5 different mental health medications but they all seem to have a bad reaction with me... I'm kinda desperate to find the cause and can only link it to the zoladex injections

My husband begged me to stop my Zoladex because of how it was affecting me. I was angry, teary, foggy headed. Any messing with hormones can do it though so depends if you're on anything else besides.

Thank you for your reply, I was on an antidepressant for anxiety for 18 years but the zoladex seems to reacted it and with every medication I've been tried on since. It's just a shame it's taken me 12 months to realise what the cause is.

Hi,I was on zoladex many years ago for about 8 months I started becoming very anxious and paranoid. It started affecting my work and life in general and I started having panic attacks. I also noticed it caused me to have blurred vision. I stopped taking it and there was a massive improvement.

Thank you for your reply, I have a gyne appointment in a few weeks and will definitely be stopping the injection

Hi Sarah, Sorry to hear you are having such a rotten time with the zoladex. I was on it for 6 months after my bowel surgery to remove endo and I begged the doctor to not have the last one but she said I had to as it was on my post op notes. I can't imagine how you're feeling. But I know I definitely felt, alone, down, anxious, foggy headed, tired but without being able to sleep at night, bloated, grumpy, angry, fed up, hot flushes. It was horrible. Could they put you on a contraceptive pill instead? Something that's not so heavy in hormones? I'm really sorry you're having to go through this. It is miserable. x

Thank you for replying, unfortunately the contraceptive agitates my anxiety. My gp is in agreement and has agreed to stop my zoladex injections. I'm really lucky my gp is very sympathetic x

Hi I'm so glad I've seen this post as I've just had my 2nd Prostap injection & my mood has nose dived, some days I just really struggle to function & am teary/anxious/angry. I'm going to see how I feel when I have the next one but not sure how I will manage 6 months on it. Sorry you're struggling, it's so awful isn't it!

So sorry you're struggling too! It's really not nice. I can let you know how I get on with stopping the injection, which my gp has agreed to x

Well it hasn't gone well at all, I couldn't cope and am back on the injection but off all other meds. I feel I'm in a living nightmare
