Continuous bleeding on Microgynon

Hi

I have Endometriosis, I had a laparoscopy 2 years ago where the surgeon found and removed stage 4 endo. Over the last year my symptoms have all reappeared so I took the decision to go on the pill as it was really affecting my life negatively again.

I was prescribed Microgynon 30 and told to do three packs back to back. As I started the third pack last week I got a small amount of breakthrough bleeding which I wasn’t surprised about. But then this turned more into a period, and has been going on for 8 days now with medium heavy bleeding and daily period pain which is awful!

After 4 days I called my doctors and they say it was normal and not to worry. But now it’s reached 8 days with no sign of letting up I’m feeling concerned. Im actually now on holiday too which is adding to my frustration.

I don’t know whether I should just stop the pill or whether that would bring on another period with more of my endo symptoms? Or just carry on, but it genuinely feels like this might never stop, every day is the same heaviness, same pain etc. it’s not like a normal period.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I was also put on microgynon after my surgery, I also had normal periods despite taking it back to back. (Normal for me is about 15 days, heavy, painful). I took the three months prescribed, because I didnt want the doctor to think I wasn't trying. And then I stopped and came off it.

Yes sadly I was put on microgynon30 in my teens and I bled constantly on it for the whole month when I took it back to back and with the break. I took the decision to come off it because at least I got 1 week without a bleed on my own cycle. I was eventually recommended the Depo provera injection which suited me.

Doctors usually recommend trying for at least 3 months as often bleeding etc will settle down. I had the depo provera injection once and bled for a year non stop (albeit lightly) so everyone’s different.
