Hi there,

How long ago did you have your op?

Has the skin healed underneath?

Do you have the number for the nurses/hospital where you had your op? Maybe ring them if your op was recent or get in touch with your GP & they will advise you what to do.

Good luck xx

hey! I have my op 2.5 weeks ago now. There seems to be a small hole where the stitches were. I don’t have their number but will defo get in touch with the GP

Thanks xx

Aww, bless you.

Hope it heals & doesn’t hurt or cause irritation.

It’s been nearly 6 weeks since my op & I’ve been too scared to pick my stitches. Three have scabbed over, one has completely fallen off. xx

is it bleeding lots? If so then you need it looked at urgently but if it’s not bleeding then you shouldn’t have to worry as they are dissolvable stitches so they usually fall off on their own with the scab once the wound has healed but if you are constantly bleeding then I would go to a&e as it would take too long waiting for the gp or contact the surgeon secretary but again if it’s bleeding lots then it’s a&e xx

it didn’t bleed, just left a hole. However my belly button bled when I tried to clean it and I think the stitches moved, I have a small split there x

currently in same situation (have done this before after previous surgeries too, terrible person that I am lol)…keep it clean, don’t cover it unless it is bleeding or sticky, if it looks not too bad then just leave it alone, otherwise go to your GP or phone the hospital depending on how bad it is…I picked mine about 2 weeks after surgery and it was ok, obviously not recommended at all but it seems to be healing ok

ha just like me, I love to pick at things. It’s a bit sticky so covered it with a plaster for now! If it gets worse will speak to GP - thanks x

no worries, such a temptation lol! Try not to worry too much, I convince myself each time I’m going to get sepsis and die, but just keep a wee eye and any worse get it checked but should be ok!x
