Colposcopy after smear results sharp pain

I had a colposcopy today following my smear test finding abnormal cells, I was very shocked as I kind of thought it was just a second opinion but the doctor informed me they were incredibly concerned about my case. I had the colposcopy and he decided the best thing was to take biopsies, he then struggled to initially stem the bleeding, my main question is how long afterwards did people experience pain for it’s such a sharp pain that has set off my endo badly, now to try and stay calm until I get the results I am so nervous 😢

Hi i had a colposcopy and biopsies done. And I didn't have any of the things your suffering from. Can you ring your GP perhaps to ask for advice and help, you should not be suffering like this. Or ring gynecology and ask there as i was told to do this if i had any problems afterwards. So sorry your suffering sending you a big hug x

im so sorry you had to go through this! I had this a few years ago, I had pain for a good week following - not excruciating but like a dull ache. I then started to get very smelly green discharge and had a nasty infection, if your worried go and see the GP/Nurse they can do a quick swab and send off to check for infection. I should have gone sooner to get checked!

I don't really have words of wisdom for the anxiety waiting for the results - i was a basket case. What I will say is it takes years for cells to grown into cancer (hence the smear testing being 3 yearly). They had to remove/biopsy a very large bit of my cervix because of cell changes and mine came back cin 1&2 with clear margins and i haven't had bad smear since.

oh bless you I listened to what you said & saw my GP today, I keep getting such a sharp stabbing pain it keeps stopping me in my tracks it’s awful, they started me on antibiotics today whilst they await the swab results, thank you for the reassurance I’m just so hopeful they come back cin 1/2 it feels like time us going backwards & not forwards at the minute x
