Hope you lovelies are all ok, at work today I had a sudden sharp stabbing pain in my lower left side around my ovary, I never really get left side pain usually right, if I put pressure and push on the area it helps a little I’m going to try a hot water bottle shortly but it’s really taken me a back as it’s very painful any idea what it could be I had to lay on the floor for 10 minutes at work to try and help a little

Ovarian cyst? Constipation? Infection? My last one was an abscess! Millions of things it can be unfortunately and only an ultrasound can rule 2 out xx

I have a phone call with my gp Friday so will see if she can refer me for an ultrasound thank you x

Hey Joely, I'm new to the forum, but the stabbing pain is something I get all the time on the right-hand side. I totally get when you say that pressing on it helps, I seem to walk around with one hand permanently on my right side where my ovary is. I have just had an MRI scan and they have told me that I have Endometriosis all over my womb, ovaries (they are completely stuck!) my colon, and my bowels. I'm waiting to hear from the consultant to see what needs to be done.... Total hysterectomy i imagine, very scared. I know that strong Nurofen takes the edge off, but I've yet to find anything better. Sorry not to be of much use, hope it helps to know someone else is feeling the same. Keep strong!

Hello, hope your not doing too bad, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve found out how bad your endo really is, I find this forum so helpful like to others saying pressing on the pain they just wouldn’t get it but I’m so glad you knew what I meant, hope you hear from the consultant soon sending hugs thank you for your reply x

Ah, bless you, this was the extent of what I had. During my lap, he nearly did a full hysterectomy, but avoided it. I was riddled with it. Just awful pain at time, I only found out as my symptoms were discharge through the month, which we now think was from a leaking tube. Nurofen helps and heat, but other than that not a lot else. Hope you hear soon! Xxx

Have you tried a Tens machine? I got one at the weekend and it's been the best decision ever! Only cost me £30 on Amazon, really helps take the edge off. I press on my pain too, I've only heard you guys saying you do it, strange that pressure helps isn't it. Hope you're having a better day today :)

Aw thanks, I’ve heard the tens machines are very good ... another good reason to press “buy now” for !! I’m still waiting to hear from the consultant who apparently has “had to go away” as I was told over the phone the other day... (not quite sure what that means?) but someone will be contacting me shortly to see what needs to be done and when ... I just want to know if and when I’m going to need this operation 😔 hope you are ok? Xx

Hi joely, I used to get this and ignored it, until other symptoms arose. I assumed it was muscle strain or it was around the time of ovulation so put it down to that. 5 weeks ago I had my left Fallopian tube and majority of my left ovary removed, it was endometriosis and I didn’t know I had it. I get the same pain, but milder now and use a hot water bottle. I did get it really bad on my first period after my laparoscopy and it was also the worst period I’d ever had, but I put that down to it being the first one and the loss of a tube. Hopefully the pain subsides for you, but see your GP of you can x

I was getting the sharp stabbing pains during ovulation (I’m 3 1/2 weeks post op) then constant left sided pain 24/7, like you felt better if I pressed on it. During my lap my left ovary was adhered to the pelvic wall so made sense.

Hopefully they’ll send you for a scan as at least that would possibly show a cyst if it was. Would help give you peace of mind at least. Good luck

I would say it’s a cyst, I had same pain before I had mine removed. Could try NAC as it can help reduce them in size

You’re the first person I know who has posted about this pain! I have got episodes of that (all since my first lap) where it would come on for about 10/15 seconds that were just unbearable- if they lasted any longer then I’m sure I would faint. It was an area that I could pinpoint, like someone had a burning laser on my ovary. I’d get a rush of heat and not be able to speak, move, breathe! They put it down to infection post lap as I had first episode during recovery, but have had this about 5 times over the past 18 months, where it will happen frequently over a day or two and then be gone, and back to regular pain! (Which is still excruciating but not as sudden!!)

Recently, I began going to A&E for this pain as I had rang my GP and she was worried it was a ruptured ovarian cyst. The first time I had a cyst on that ovary (3.5cm) and when I went back as I was getting it again, it had grown to 5+cm in just 3 months! Having a follow up scan next week and praying it hasn’t got any bigger as then I will poronsnlt need another surgery... which I already do because it’s so obvious my Endo has returned to me. I has wuite extensive surgery with first lap (superficialities disease on both pelvic sidewalls as well as deep infiltrating and rectovaginal endometriosis.

Push with this pain because it’s not normal and could be a sign of something that needs to be looked in to!

Best of luck xxx

I was literally at my wits end and thought I just really need to post to see as I honestly never felt anything like it before and pain is a regular thing, just a new sudden pain can be worrying! I am so sorry that you’ve had a rough time with it and I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed that it hadn’t got any bigger, it’s so difficult isn’t it we know our bodies but just need others to listen to us!

I have a video call with my GP on Friday she is really lovely so I’m hoping she can send me maybe for a scan or something not sure what I would need xx
