I had a colonoscopy just before I got diagnosed with endo, as they were thinking is IBS and not endo (how typical...), it is quite unpleasant and a bit painful, but with the sedative you are going to be ok, if you are lucky you will be asleep! I cant recall too many things from that day, the good thing about the sedative is that your memory is a bit of a goldfish for a short while, after a few minutes I was asking the same things lol...
As for the pap tests, there are so many women with results like that, this could mean nothing at all, even a thrush or something like that could affect results, and when the re-do it it usually comes back as normal.
Oh god I just saw you wrote colposcopy and not colonoscopy! lol
Oh sorry, you should not worry at all with the colposcopy is much easier than the colonoscopy, thats for sure.. xx
Hey hun
I had a colposcopy in 2006. I had 2 abnormal smears in 2005, colposcopy biopsy (which is a bit painful but not too bad). That showed CIN 1. Went back for treatment only to find out I was pregnant so couldn't have the treatment. Went back after I had my daughter and had the treatment in May 2006. I had Loop Diathermy where basically they cut the end of my cervix off using a heated electrified loop of wire. It was rather uncomfortable and painful, but for me the local anaesthetic before they did anything hurt the most!!!
Take someone with you to hold your hand, I needed my husband there, was pretty shakey, but you will be fine x
Aww thanks for your reply KaratePanther im glad everything worked out well for you.. i really want to conceive too and on top of worrying that endo will stop me from conceiving i am also now worried about the treatment for these abnormal cells making it hard for me to conceive too i hate being a woman lol x
I had an abnormal smear 5 years ago . the majority of abnormal cells right themselves meaning no treatment is required but monitoring will increase to more regular smears . your gynaecologist will have a look at your cervix and will be able to visualise any potential issues. it's a bit uncomfortable but probably more embarrassing than anything .
