Post Hysterectomy Advice

Hi lovelies,

I’m 5 days post total hysterectomy and endo removal. I haven’t been given the full picture yet of what exactly was done (don’t even ask) but what I do know is I had a bowel and bladder shave. Since then, Im having this weird thing happening whereby my bladder won’t work unless my bowel is completely empty first. I was massively constipated for a day, and didn’t wee during that time. Once I’d managed to finally go, my bladder emptied spectacularly like a bloody horse! Just hoping someone can give me advice on what to expect healing wise after having this done because honestly, the medical professionals are rubbish at this part. Worth mentioning I’ve also got lower back pain.

I did think I might have a UTi from the catheter but the urine sample I dropped in to the GP yesterday was clear. Anyway, any advice would be massively appreciated because I am over thinking everything right now!

It is common to have wee and bowl movement issues at the begging. You need to be watchful and contact your doctor as you need. I would freak out if I would not pee for a day. Congrats on achieving it at the end! I don't know how they could discharge you if you could not pee...You doctor needs to monitor you closely if you cannot pee.
