I'm scheduled to have my endo surgery soon and I haven't seen my surgeon/ consultant in a year. My pre-op appointment is also scheduled a couple of days before the surgery. Is this normal?I was told I would be scheduled to see a fertility specialist but that hasn't happened either.
I'm becoming really anxious.
What has other people's experience been like before the surgery?
Hey, I was in a similar position having had no contact from my gynaecologist for about a year and suddenly being booked in for pre-op/surgery last week. I was told the reason was they were trying to quickly clear backlog by carrying out surgeries in close by/less busy hospitals. I had my pre-op then a week later my surgery so I don’t think its too uncommon!
Prior to surgery you speak to your surgeon (likely your consultant if they are carrying out the surgery) which is a good chance to ask any questions. However the focus is on the surgery so any follow up questions you might have it would probably be best to remind your consultant via their secretary (re: fertility specialist)?
Once having my surgery all I was told was that they found endo and I would have a follow up in 3 months time so now I’m just awaiting that appointment. Good luck with everything and remember anxiety is completely normal feeling to have but you will be fine and be able to talk fears through before the surgery 😌
