Endometriosis surgery

Hello, girlsI'll have my surgery this Thursday to remove my endometriosis cyst 13 cm, my ovary and some fibroids, when the operation scheduled the pain stops 🤭 it's like it plays the games or it's psychological thing🤷🏻‍♀️.

The pain makes me surrounded to remove it, now I'm not afraid from the surgery, I'm worry about how much it'll take to recover? because I need to do things by myself no one to help, will I return like before? Can hold heavy things, work, run....

What I need to know before surgery? And after?

Hi Tomims

Sadly after surgery no you won't be able to lift heavy things or do anything too strenuous. You will likely be in a fair bit of pain for the first few days, and will need to rest for the first week/2 weeks. It can take up to 6 months to fully heal internally, though you won't be out of action that long. After a couple of weeks you should be up and about :)

I will add that surgery is YOUR decision and you are well within your rights to say no if you don't want to. But also that endometriosis which is left untreated often gets worse, so it's a double edge sword. Please please speak to the hospital where you are having your surgery and ask them LOTS of questions, so you know what to expect and what you need to do for recovery. Especially if you will be alone. You'll need someone to pick you up from hospital and possibly be with you overnight, as the drugs make you SUPER drowsy for the first 48 hours and you'll need help moving around, you won't be able to cook that's for sure.

Hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply, today the doctor removed the thread after 10 days. I had bad days but I'm better now I can stand up easily than before, I'll use decapeptyl injection for the next three months. I hope everything will be better and the pain won't back.

I went back to work for a 4-6 hours in week 4, full time after but from home. I'm mainly office based so not a lot of movement. The pain wasn't too bad but personally I was shattered. It took me until week 7 to get a semblance of my energy back!

hi not sure if this will help l had lap surgery just before Christmas to remove large cyst both fallopian tubes and both ovaries. Was told not to drive for 6 weeks nor do any heavy lifting. Also to make sure l had a good size cushion to put between myself and seat belt when a passenger.

I was lucky as had no gas after pain due to having an incredible anaesthetist. I have stuck to the advice and only began to drive about 12 days ago with the use of a removable seat belt cushion which l bought on ETSY.

Hope you soon feel well and strong again, Alexa
