My surgery is scheduled for 28th Aug (yes I’m petrified) and I just wanted to get some hints and tips from anyone for things that I may not have thought of. I am also staying in 2 nights at hospital.
Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking/reading

Hi I’m a complex case because a 10cm portion of my bowel is affected so I may have to have an ileostomy and therefore will need to be on a high dependency unit. I was told this right before we went ahead. Hope your doing well xx
Hi, I went in for my laparoscopy last Wednesday and everyone was so helpful on this site with advice on what to take.
I made a list on my phone based off everyone’s recommendations and I’d say the best things I took with me were Dressing gown and slippers, clothes for home, period pads (although I didn’t bleed for a few days later), some of the dye from surgery got into the pads so was useful to have that on.
I also took magazines for the wait, although I went in really quick, it took my mind of waiting as I was the only one on the bay in the ward which was quite daunting.
And then, peppermint tea was good for the gas pain after - and just as a general good warm drink. I also got some dried apricots which were good and banana diced up aswel and apple cut up.
