About 3-4 months ago I went abroad to attend a few weddings and think I ate way too much food and sometimes at very odd times like 2 am. On my return to the U.K. I felt constipated (I was going to the toilet every morning but with difficulty in passing stools) the stools were a log texture and in the process, I believe I also had tears down there which caused some bleeding. After a few weeks everything went back to normal but a month after my return, the constipation was back. At this point wife, who also suffers from constipation recommended, I take Laxido which I did and it helped relieve my symptoms. Then one day whilst collecting medicines at my local pharmacy I asked the pharmacist if I should stop taking Laxido and told him everything about my symptoms. He said any changes to the bowel movement and especially if there was blood should be consulted with a GP. Anyway, after many calls and perseverance, I managed to book an emergency appointment. This was with a nurse practitioner who examined my tummy and backside and said everything looks normal and that I should stop taking laxatives and increase my fibre intake and also take lots of fluids she booked a follow-up appointment with a GP in 14 days. I did as was recommended. I was still going to the toilet same time in the morning. The stool texture for all of these 14 days was Type 5 (bristol stool chat) on two occasions I went to the toilet twice and on both occasions the stools were watery. Although towards the end of 14 days (not taking laxatives), the texture started to move towards Type 4. On the day of the GP appointment, the doctor examined the back side by inserting a finger and moving it around which was extremely uncomfortable and I somehow managed to control not soiling the doctor's examination table. He said that I ought to take Laxido for 6 months and that I was getting an overflow and the hard stools was still there. He also said if I again have any bleeding he will have to get that checked by inserting a camera or something. Anyway, I went home and rather than taking 2 Laxidos separately I took both of them together. That night I had extreme abdominal pain that lasted for 10 mins. Called the surgery the next day and was told this is due to overdosing on laxido. It’s been 3 days since my appointment and I (on day 1 took 2 Laxidos together, day 2 took just 1 Laxido and on day 3 took 2 separately) feel bloated (never felt this way before the doctor’s examination), my stools are small and watery. I have cut down on my eating. I’m drinking more water. Taking prunes, figs etc. should I continue taking Laxido, considering my stools are watery? Is there anything else I can do I feel I still have lots inside my body that needs to be flushed out?

I would follow your doctors advice and take the Laxido for 6months like they prescribed. You did say the doctor has already told you the watery stools are overflow and carrying on with the laxido, should help to soften the bigger/harder stools that need to come out. Sounds like you’re just psssing the overflow still.
Hope you feel better and less uncomfortable soon xxx
