RV Endo and bleeding

Hi All,

I rarely post but always read (and comment) I'm hoping someone can help and just give me peace of mind.

Does anyone with Rectovaginal endo bleed other times of the month not just at ovulation/periods?? I don't even have periods as had a hysterectomy (but still have ovaries) I was bleeding 2 weeks ago with BM's (bowel movements) which then stopped and tonight started bleeding again but more so - it's bright red blood and snall clots with BM's and also excruciating pain just before I go and also during. It's also different types of pain - the waves of deep stabbing rectal pain that radiate into back, hips and down legs, then the razor blade pain actually trying to pass stools..

Was just a bit concerned about the frequency of bleeding as it used to be cyclical before hysterectomy now there's no pattern at all! 😳 I've had all the gastro tests too inc Colonoscopy and scans etc which were all clear..I'm taking stool softeners every few hours and also lots of laxatives and still a struggle. It feels like ny bowel at back is stuck or pulled to side and the gap is too small for my stools to get through - without laxatives can't pass wind either.

I just panicked a bit when started bleeding again and wanted peace of mind that this can be 'normal' with RV endo.

I've got Surgery booked in for end of March with my Endo Specialist and also Colorectal chap so it's just a waiting game until then!

Thanks in advance,

Vix x

Hello! It sounds to me like you have an anal fissure or possibly piles, so nothing serious, its probably still related to the trouble you're having but not a direct result.

I get this sometimes too, in little cycles depending on how my bowl issues are. As far as Ive read/been told, its nothing serious when its the symptoms you describe ie. bright red blood, only after BM, sharp pain (often described as feeling like shards of glass) during passing of stools. Do you also get pain or itchiness for a little bit afterwards?

As long as the blood isnt a deep red/brown colour and looking very unusual I wouldn't worry too much. This should go away on its own when you either have your issues sorted or once you find it easier to pass stool again. I hope that helps :)

Thank you, I did have a rectal exam to check for fissures etc which was all clear but suppose it could have been at time they weren't there. No pain or itchiness after or anything like that. It's always fresh blood so as you say will try not to worry - worrying probably makes it worse! Seems to all be linked to my endo and gyny said it can bleed more when it gets worse or certain situations may just aggravate it. Endo has a mind of its own!!

I have rectalvaginal endometriosis and I bleed quite often when I go to the toilet. I've had every test going and they put it down to the endometriosis. I usually find it's worse when I am stressed. I also get really bad pains when I go to the toilet.

Thank you, mine seems to be all linked to the endo too as also had every test going! It just concerned me the fact it's gone from cyclical bleeding to more frequently but now spoken to my Gyny and he said it could be endo or endo nodule growing or as you say certain things like stress xan aggravate it. Endo seems to have a mind of its own!!
