mini pill & high blood pressure

I was diagnosed with endo in March and given the mini pill I have put a little weight on which has caused me to get high blood pressure the nurse says I will have to come off the pill because of this ! Since being in the pill my life’s been much better no cycles and controlled pain where as before I couldn’t control the pain and I bled all the time I can’t go back to this has anyone been in a similar situation as I’m so scared I will just be left to suffer 😢

I haven't been in your exact position but I've been taken off the combined pill due to my weight and no amount of explaining it was the only thing keeping me going changed her mind. I've heard of people not being able to use the combined pill due to high blood pressure... and in turn being prescribed the mini pill because it's safer. If I were you I would either make an appointment with a different nurse or speak to a GP because that advice doesn't sound quite right.

oh ok Thanku so much for your reply I have an appointment on the third of Jan so we will see ! I haven’t even seen a specialist yet as my appointment in October was put bk till feb but they advised my gp to give me the pill n now the nurse said I may have to come off it and that has panicked me so much .

the mini pill is ‘supposed’ to be safe for high blood pressure. Obviously everyone reacts differently though. I would speak to your gp definitely and tell them how scared you are of coming off the mini pill. If your bp is only slightly elevated possibly trying to lose the weight to see if that may help is the first thing worth trying but obviously depends on how high it’s gone. I’d also request a 24hr blood pressure monitor or buy a monitor from a chemist - that way you can check what your bp is throughout the day at home. Bp can go sky high if you’re anxious at drs surgery, etc. the nurse doing readings one day and telling you you’ll have to come off a helpful Endo drug is a bit extreme - best to find out how it is at home first. Def speak to gp. Xx

thanx yes I definitely want to lose the weight as I worked so hard to lose it in the first place I have had a bit of a year and let things slide I could kick myself I’m hoping the doctor will give me a chance I have also brought a machine for home I get nervous just thinking about checking bp sounds silly but I do ! Thing is I know my body and I know I can bring it down just Sod’s Law that my pill check is straight after Xmas x
