Mini pill

Has anyone been put on the mini pill to shrink cysts? Or to stop symptoms? My gynaecologist wants to put me on it for 3 months before I have a lap, does it work? Thanks x

Hey darling,

I had the same recommendation given to me yesterday. They're putting me on the Microgynon 21 for 6 months and will ultrasound me again in 3 months' time to see if it's working. Apparently it eases symptoms because it stops the ovulation process.

Do what they suggest. 3 months isn't a long time to see results. My cyst is currently 30mm. It grew from 24mm in a month or 2. So now they are going to see if it reduces in size with the pill. If it does, I will get a positive diagnosis for endo and I will learn my options after. The dr said they want to make sure of this before they give me the laparoscopy. It must be the same thinking for you there, so do what they say unless you're trying for a baby and then you should probably speak to the dr about the options they offer in that case xxx

I think if you're trying for a baby and had no luck in a year to me it would make sense to go for a diagnostic laparoscopy where your endo can be treated at the same time. It seems strange to be suggesting you go on contraception when you're trying for a baby. Only my personal view xxx

Yeah I know, the pain is just so bad, it's only for 3 months then I'll have the laparoscopy, she wants to see if they'll shrink, as she wants to drain them not remove them, as I'm only young xx

Gemma, the cysts make it harder for the egg to pass through to the uterus, so it's possible that they're the cause of the problem not getting pregnant. I think the dr might be right to see if you can conceive once the cysts have been drained. Afterwards, if it doesn't work, she can offer you options that assist conception. Surgery is always a good idea but only after everything else has been exhausted and, if you're young, time is on your side to wait a little before going under the knife. xxx

Hopefully the consultant is suggesting listing you for surgery now with the mini pill to help you with pain in the meantime, not three months of mini pill and then possibly waiting another three months or so for surgery? X

Yeah she said just three months then surgery it's a private hospital so I think they work a little quicker xx

hey ive had the same. I have been put on esmya its suppose to hopefully reduce the size of my fibroids. I am not going to lie I think I have been moodier since I'e been on it. I did the first 3 months cycle no issues. Then came off to have a period and then started back on the tablets again planning to have an issue free 3months... After 14 days I've started bleeding again. I am not 100% whether this is normal or not. c
