serrapeptase for adhesions

Has anybody had success taking this for adhesions? My 19 year-old daughter had an exploratory lap for intense pain around her left ovary area. We thought it was likely endo but in the end no endo was found. Instead it turned out her ovary and fallopian tube were buried in adhesions. No real reason for this as she's had no previous surgery or known infections. Adhesions were released and the surgeon felt fairly confident that would be the end of it. Less than 8 months later the pain has returned with a vengeance and I don't know what to do. More surgery would likely only lead to more adhesions. After researching I've come up with a plan for her to take serrapeptase to try to dissolve the adhesions alongside some myofascial release massage to try and get them from the outside or at least alleviate some of the tension in that area. Just wondering if anyone else has had luck with serrapeptase for adhesions. From what I've read it can be quite powerful against scar tissue. Wish I could go back in time and have her start serra right after her surgery in April!

Adhesions are a huge problem after surgery. I think it also depends on what the surgeon does to try to prevent them. My surgeon didn't use anything and mine are terible but some other surgeons use protective film etc and one US doctor has a special technique called second look where he actually opens patients up and undoes them at the srat of their forming. I didn't realise but it's actually a good idea to ask your surgeon what does he use to prevent adhesions before you choose him/her for an op. Most will say nothing because nothing prevents them but a few do use innovative techniques which are menat to help. I've heard about this supplement but only from people who are trying it not yet from anyone who says it works so I can't say.

but millions of us have terible adhesions so if it does work for your daughter plase let us know on here. Please let us know how the massage works and whether that helps too, I know there is a company called clear path who offer a very specific massge for people with endo. They could be worth a try.

I really hope something helps, but your daughter is very lucky to have such a great mother who is trying to help her every step of the way and I'm sure that just knowing this will help her feel better. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but do keep us all posted.

Aw, thank you. Her health problems stretch back years and just when we think everything is good something else crops up. She has a mother with PTSD at this point! Really sorry to hear you're dealing with adhesions, as well. I've had them due to massive inflammation from dermoid cysts. Was fobbed off by doctors for ages and by the time they finally did surgery there were adhesions everywhere. I was lucky that once the offending cysts were removed they never came back. Or, at least, they haven't caused me pain or discomfort. With my daughter, adhesions weren't on our radar at all so I didn't think to do our ask anything since it seemed like very minor surgery.

I will say that so far she's had one benefit from taking nattokinase and serrapeptase and that's a massive improvement in her acne that had started getting bad since the return of the adhesion pain. I've seen people mention this elsewhere and there's a research paper showing acne improvement with serrapeptase. So at least we know there is something in the supplements! She's also been having twinges of pain in her ovaries since starting. The main pain is still constant, but the twinges of sharp pain are new, so I'm hoping that's a manifestation of something happening.

Clear Passage seems like highway robbery to me. Unethical to charge £5000 for gentle massage. Makes me angry that they've made it so expensive and hence exclusive because they know people with chronic adhesions are desperate. I wouldn't give them my money on that principle alone. And since it is just gentle persuasive massage I've decided to go for a women's physio at first. Hopefully she can do something a bit similar. My daughter could have another surgery for the same price as Clear Passage and if we had to resort to that I would get her on the serra asap after and hopefully have a shot at preventing recurrence.

I'm actually taking nattokinase for cardiovascular reasons and so far I'm tolerating a pretty high dose with no issues. Benefits only to be seen over time, but I'm hopeful. There was a really big study recently on Nattokinase and cardiovascular which is really impressive.

Good luck to you. I think there's nothing to lose from taking these enzymes, so I'd say it was worth a shot for you. They reduce inflammation and serrapeptase has actions similar to NSAIDs so can reduce pain. Only reason not to take is if you're on other blood thinners as far as I can see.

Any of the protolytic enzymes such as Serrapeptase are amazing with plenty of double blind studies as to their efficacy. I’ve used them on and off and they can be super helpful around scar issues and congestion of blood vessels Post inflammation.

Thank you! I can't find many (any, really) studies on serra and adhesions. Nattokinase seems to be studied more, but more for cardiovascular outcomes.

have dm’ed you

I’ve been taking it for about a month..I’m unsure how it’s affecting my fallopian tube however my scars are changing on my body , becoming more smooth only thing I noticed was a slight dizziness other than that no severe side effects

Thanks for replying. It's nice to see some kind of external results to see that something is working. What dosage are you on?

Hi Mummymego

Sorry you're going through something similar. Been a while since I posted here. We continued with the serrapeptase (160,000IU/day) and nattokinase (8000FU/day) both bought from Vitacure, a small seemingly reliable business in the UK. At the same time she was seeing a scar therapy physiotherapist. I think both the physio and the enzymes were important. I don't believe one would have worked as well without the other. Message me if you want more info on physios.

After a couple months, she did start to have stomach issues with the serrapeptase, so we dropped that and have stuck with the nattokinase alone, which seemed equally effective. Her pain has been gradually improving and the physios have also commented that the area feels softer. They also say her psoas is incredibly tight--maybe due to bolstering herself from pain?--and that working on that can also be helpful. The difference between how she was after the recurrence of adhesion pain and now is incredible. She says she still has daily low level pain, but it is very manageable now. She just travelled to California to see her sister. She works full-time. These things would not have been possible in the state she was in at the end of 2022.

She recently stopped the nattokinase because she was having breakthrough bleeding on the birth control pill. Due to her other health conditions, suppressing her period is very helpful. Stopping the natto seems to have worked so she is now just doing home physio exercises daily and seeing a scar physio once a month. She may have reached the peak help she could get from the enzymes. If things get bad again she would likely go back on the nattokinase.

Keep us posted if you try any of this and it works.

Hi Lisa, I was researching Serrapeptase and endo adhesions then stumbled upon your post. I've had stage 4 endo (on my left side only too) and done the lap surgery had 2 kids and now the pain and possibly endo is back. I just want to share my experience with Serrapeptase. After a while I couldn't tolerate Serrapeptase anymore because of loose stools and this went away after going on low carb/keto. It might be worth it going off dairy and gluten if you have endometriosis. Also, there's recent research that found high levels of the chemical used in non-stick pans in endometriosis patients, I've stopped using them. To deal with this problem of micro plastics I've started to take water kefir (40+ strains) since L. Plantarum can break down bpa and I'm suspecting other strains can metabolise other nasty chemicals but the research isn't there yet. Wish you and your daughter good health!
