Not sure whaat causes it but my consultant said it meant it wasn’t working properly- I continued to have random bleeds throughout my time on Prostap and Decapeptyl

Hey it’s normal at least for one to two month starting the injections. I had 2 bleedings 2 weeks apart and after second shot it stopped completely but now I am getting spotting most of the times bcuz of add back hormons (estradiol+progesterone pills) prescribed after the 6th injection

The reason for bleeding is the surge of hormons (estrogen mainly for women) after each injection for the first 10 days to 2 weeks and then down regulation begins and some symptoms or side effects are seen and felt during down regulation like hot flashes or insomnia or brain fug, nausea.. etc.

Don’t worry each person is different but if bleeding is still too much after 2 month talk to your doctor and seek their advice.

I bleed almost continuously on Prostap the reason I took it was to control the bleeding caused by Fibroids and Adenomyosis so for me it didn’t work.I ended up having a hysterectomy two weeks ago, having said that it does work for many people, my consultant says usually by the third injection :)

Hi,

Yes its normal. I bled for 3 weeks very heavily and then for another 4-6 weeks after it got lighter.

I do get some random spotting and bleeding every now and again and have been on them for 2 years.

I was on prostrap for the first year then swapped to zoladex and that gave me better relief.

Think the bleeding is your body trying to adjust to different hormones. If you have fibroids or other issues it takes time for them to settle too.

Hope its starts kicking in for you soon. 💜
