Still painful bleeding inbetween periods after lap surgery

Hi all :)

I feel abit stumpted, abit confused

I had my lap august 17th, which the surgeon said my tubes were fine, he removed a cyst from my ovary an endo all over, thats all he told me,

He then told me i would need to stop smoking an drinking alcohol and get my bmi to 30 or below as it is 34 as we will need to do ivf... (nhs recommendations)

Myself and my partner literally had our last smoke that day and havent looked back since, i dont drink and its hard with losing weight as i have problems with a chronic sciatic nerve! Past 2 weeks i haven't been able to walk, put my heels down because its irritating the nerve (and they wont help me with that apart from painkillers)

We see this surgeon in december 3 days after christmas and im just so stressed about it because of weight and simply the whole ivf thing

I researched him and he is a a fertility specialist for embryo etc etc nothing about endo, so then i went on to look into the other surgeons and consultants at the womens hosp birmingham uk, and none of them mention endo in their specialities:( and it is all stressing me out

Since surgery i bled for days so i didnt count that but september i had a period very painful an only bled for 3 days an this was the problem before.. an then on day 11 of my cycle i started to bleed again which went straight through my ovulation days too 😞(which messed up natural conception) still now i am bleeding which today is 9 days.. never ever have i bled so long... years ago it would be 5 days an then it was 3 thats when everything started to stress me hence the docs hence finding out i have endo and hence the surgery.. but i was never told what stage or why ivf if my tubes were fine an he removed the cyst and some endo :(

Im debating ringing my docs again about this bleeding

Is there any advice or info on what i have disclosed today which would be greatly appreciated as im driving myself mad over it all, hence researching the consultants at the hospital an constantly reflecting back on what i was told after surgery.. i wish i asked so much more but i was still quite out of it:(

I want to be a mum more than anything and just finding out my sister is pregnant for the 3rd time is weighing me down its been tough as much as i want this for her more than anything its just reality for me all the time 😞

Thank you my lovelies, your always here for me 💛💛💛💛

Request your hospital records, always useful. Depends on the hospital but they are allowed 28 days to send to you.

The after surgery but is always the same, even with no follow up booked I’ve asked questions. We think of so many things after the event 🤦‍♀️

Don’t wait until after Christmas, it’s too long and stressful

That all sounds very stressful. Did your surgeon not send you a letter explaining what he/she had done? Moon miaden has a good idea ask them to send you the records that might help. I would also ask for another appointment with your surgeons to find outwhat is going on with the bleeding and why he has said you need IVF. I actually take my phone and record the converstaion with the consultant when I go now because sometimes I feel nervous and can't remember exactly what they say.

Chronic sciatic pain can be caused by endo by the way, it's suprisingly common. I checked their website carefully at Bham womens hospital and they do have an endo specialist surgeon there, if you look under our services they do recommend a specialist doctor I can't name him here but look carefully. They are a BGSE centre for endo so you should be able to get good treatment there.

Here's a link to their website

bwc.nhs.uk/endometriosis

Double check it find out who their endo specialist is and ask to see them instead of your current consultant. Just call them and explainthe problems you are having. Hopefullt they will be able to point you in the right direction.

Good luck xx

hi

thank you for your reply, the specialist that is listed was meant to do my surgery but didn't.. an the one who did my surgery isn't even on that list.. the man who did my surgery specialises in fertility .. I'm so confused with it all, and I have finally stopped bleeding now after 15 days of it, but now it's messed my actually cycle up I havent got a clue when I'm due again now,

I feel like I'm constantly stressed.. an then I think how I'm going to come across if I ring asking to see the specialist one.. or request to see him.

I havent a clue why the person who did my surgery said ivf because of being still dazed after surgery sort of thing.

I did recieve a letter of what they did an at the bottom it says to start ivf an I have to get my bmi to 30 as it is 34.. stop smoking which I did from the day of surgery.. but the losing weight has been very hard I've hardly lost any, because of my back an this sciatic nerve trouble all the time

I requested my records weeks ago an still nothing back as yet

thank you for your reply xxx

Losing weight is really hard but irritatingly my husband has lost two stone in six months. Now he is making me look fat , it's very irritating. He did the KETO diet and is super strict about not having anything starchy, I cant do this as i have gallstones but it certainly worked for him. He is tucking into bacon and eggs every morning and getting thinner by the day!!!!!! Think carefully about IVF, it can make endo worse you are basically just taking eostrogens, be sure to ask about this factor because it can be an issue. Make sure you really quiz your doc and get all the facts. Good luck

Yes I'm a bit the same i can walk and I do 5 miles a day but I can't do anything like piltaes or sit ups it really hurts. Yes my hubbygot so thin so quickly no rice, no bread ,no potatoes and it really worked but lots of fatty food. I can't do it as I have gallbladder problems and high cholesterol so I have to eat low fat all the time. But he has lot stons more weight than me its KETO diet theres loads of info online about it.
