never ending period

I’ve recently been diagnosed with endometriosis in POD. Have very bad rectal pain and extremely heavy periods. Taking mefanamic acid and tranaxemic acid along with otc painkillers. Period will not stop! I’m on day 13 of my period and second round of TA. Every time I think it has stopped and stop the TA it comes back - the longer it goes on for the weaker and more miserable I get. I’ve got anemia and terrible stomach problems from taking iron - having to take movicol to deal with cosntipation which makes endo bloating worse. It won’t be long till my next period is due 😵‍💫 what else can I take whilst waiting for treatment? I had mirena coil but bled continually - it’s been recommended again as I’ve had a couple of polyps removed but I don’t believe it will work because of reaction first time. Any suggestions please! Hysterectomy and ablation have been suggested as well.

sorry you are struggling, it’s rubbish isn’t it.

I know it’s not popular, but Prostap was brilliant for me: I had HRT with it and it was great. Before that I was on oromorph and codeine every day, and after one awful period on the Prostap I had a brilliant 6 months with no bleeding (other than a bit of spotting) and nothing more than paracetamol.

So sorry to hear, sounds awful. You could try either the pill (back-to-back) or the mini pill, to help suppress your cycle? Worth talking to them for sure. Good luck!

I had continual bleeding when I started the POP pill which is similar to the coil and my gyane told me to double the dose of POP and my bleeding stopped after a week, that was 2 years ago. It is a huge help. ASk you gynae if you can try this, a hysterectomy will stop it but if you endo is very bad that isn't always possible.

I was the same. I bled for 7 months non stop TA helped a bit. As soon as i was on prostap it calmed it down with no bleeding and easing the pain. I know when im getting near the date for another injection but it nothing like the pain before .Also on HRT to help with the medical menopause symptoms. Been on it for 9 months and having a full hysterectomy in a couple of weeks.

hey I had non stop bleeding (50days With the bleeding only getting worse) and was put on Utovlan (norithesterone 5mg) by my GP and that did miracles for me. Unfortunately Pfizer is having manufacturing issues and my life has been miserable since. I guess your options depend on your age and if you’re still trying for children. I’m only 25 and want children but if I was done with having children I would have a hysterectomy no question because leaking through my clothes and bed sheets and pushing out clots is not something I would want to deal with again if I didn’t have to. And for background I have an endometrioma, adenomyosis and a polyp
