First laparoscopy- what to bring/have for post surgery and recovery

hi!

I’m due my first laparoscopy for suspected endometriosis next week. If they find it they will remove what they can as it is with an endo specialist.

My question is do you have any suggestions of any useful things I will need pre/post surgery and for recovery?

Anything to look out for, to ask, to be aware of…?

Hi. I would suggest getting some big knickers & comfy clothes. Also you might want to buy some peppermint tea as you will feel bloated afterwards plus it’s also good as you might get constipated,I found that worse than the actual surgery!I hope it goes well for you x

Hi, I would just say plenty of easy food and drink for your first week. Lots of soups/sports drinks/peppermint tea. Just nice plain things that you would have when your ill anyway.

To be honest, the constipation was the worst for me! Make sure you take the stool softeners they discharge you with, and have some senna at home just incase you need to get things moving a bit more after a few days. Also, try to stop taking the cocodamol (if you can) as soon as your ready to.

Everyone’s pain levels are different, but my post op pain was pretty chill compared to a usual endo period lol (I was not on any BC prior to surgery). I was surprised at how good I felt the next day. Just take it easy and get yourself plenty of good things to read/watch for your recovery. And try to get yourself walking around as soon as you can.
