Please Help! Not sure what the best option is?

have recently been diagnosed with Endo , consultant confirmed need hysterectomy.

really don’t want another operation. Am 51, stomach is a mess after 3 C Sections, sterilisation and an appendix operation that went wrong and a hernia.

was taking HRT after being misdiagnosed. Had overactive Thyroid, they said it was menopause.

The HRT brought on the Endo.

My womb now apparently is very big after taking HRT for 3 years.

It started when I came off of the HRT 6 months ago.

My stomach is now very swollen and lower abdomen very painful.

It flares up more with certain spicy food, stress, activity, lifting anything and intercourse is very painful during and after. I can not drink alcohol.

Monthly periods are very painful and very heavy.

I read that the contraceptive pill helps to reduce Endo, but lots of people suffering on here say that the pill masked it and it was worse when they came off.

Is there a solution without an operation for someone of my age?

Many thanks 😊 in advance, so glad that I found this site xx

It sounds like it could be Adenomyosis (big, bulky uterus) for which the cure is a hysterectomy. A lot of women find relief once it’s been removed but of course, you must do what you think is best for you.

Hi L-a-i-n

To my knowledge HRT would not cause endometriosis. However, the oestrogen rush may have triggered it all to become painful and disruptive. Many people with endometriosis have no symptoms at all. So the HRT may have just pushed the symptoms to become severe and noticeable.

Hysterectomy is certainly not a cure, but some do notice relief from it. Your best option is speaking to a proper gynae or endo nurse about this because they have access to all your health information, we don't. Ultimately though the hysterectomy is only your choice, so you don't have to do it if you don't want to. Do lots and lots of research first and see what's best for you!

Are you doing anything other than hormonal things for the symptoms? Painkillers? Any exercises or physio? Supplements? Alternative treatment like heat and diet? Xxx
