Apologies if it is too much info, but just want advice about my IUD.
I had my first lap nearly two months ago and had an IUD put in whilst I was under. All went fine and had bleeding afterwards, as expected, and everything seemed like it all was healed and settled down afterwards, however me and my partner have started to become intimate again, and it’s taking me a while to do this as I used to be in pain because of endo, so was a bit nervous doing it again, but have noticed afterwards that I get the cramping feeling again and end up spotting every time we are intimate.
I don’t know if it could be my periods are trying to come back as well, as I was on zodalex before the operation, but feels like I am having similar pain I was having before and worried that my endo maybe coming back again or if this is something to do with my IUD and my body is trying to settle still after operation?
I am probably looking into this too much, but just don’t want to go through all of that again and feel like something isn’t right 🙈❤️

Hi - have you seen a pelvic floor physio at all? I requested a referral to one after my lap 6 months ago and still waiting, but found a local private clinic.
Pelvic pain can cause muscle dysfunction that can add to pain, including sex.
There’s a book that covers this by a leading specialist pelvic physiotherapist, Amy Stein - Heal Pelvic Pain
Heal Pelvic Pain: A Proven Stretching, Strengthening, and Nutrition Program for Relieving Pain, Incontinence, I.B.S, and Other Symptoms Without Surgery (ALL OTHER HEALTH) amzn.eu/azguyDG
Or for more endo specific, Amy Stein also contributed to this book with a specialist doctor - Beating Endo: A Patient’s Treatment Plan for Endometriosis amzn.eu/0RyQfR2
No I haven’t seen a pelvic floor physio, I know the doctor at the hospital did request for me to be referred to one, and when I spoke to my gp about it they were pretty useless and didn’t understand what they meant and trying to explain it to them was a nightmare 🙈, but will have a look into this as it does make sense and definitely does sound like what I am going through.
How did you find the physio, did it help at all?
Will have a look into the books too! Thank you again for your advice and information ❤️
I’ve had a difficult recovery and yes it’s really helpful. But I’m still at an ‘ease the pain stage’ - focusing on that (and getting there). Mainly it’s stretching to increase flexibility in the muscles that have basically lost this. After that there’s a next stage of treatment, to restore normal movement/ function and strength - but this is just how I’ve framed it in my head!
I don’t think GPs can refer to specialist pelvic services if they’re hospital based. Unless your area has a community based service, in my experience GPs only have access to MSK physio, so not what you need at all. That would be your consultant to do that.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult recovery. Ahh that’s good that the physio has been really helpful! How long have you been having physio now?
you don’t realise how it effects our body even after we have had the lap, where everything has weakened over time, I will definitely have a look into this for sure.
That makes sense with what happened with my gp then, will ask my consultant and see what they can do thank you.
Hi I had same issue after having my IUD fitted . Mine also was fitted while under anaesthetic during exploratory Lap it took a few weeks to stop bleeding completely but thankfully stopped altogether after probably 3 months or so and also like your experiencing I did have cramping sensation after being intimate particularly if I climaxed ( sorry if TMI) but if it gives you some hope this did settle down after few more weeks.
Did you have Endo excised while you were put under ?
My excision needed was pretty extensive so they did mine in a separate operation about 9 months later x
All of what you said is the exact symptoms of what I am currently going through too! That is good to know that it does settle down, how long did it take for yours to settle down and how have you found your IUD so far?
Yes I had endo excised and a cyst removed and I’ve got to have another operation too as ive also got adhesion in pouch of Douglas. I haven’t had my review yet for the 1st lap I had, but by the way they told me was I had a quite bit of endo just don’t know the full extent of it yet. My review is end of September.
So sorry to hear you had to have two operations ❤️. How have you been after having those two operations?
I would say it took around 4 months to fully settle then have had no bleeding since and I would say it has definitely helped to balance my hormones cutting down on my emotional interludes and sure it has helped reduce some pain.
The surgeries have definitely helped but after 4 years now I do believe my symptoms especially bowel related are creeping back a little !
Hope you are feeling better after your surgery , have you had your review yet ?
Ahh that’s great news, I am glad it has helped sort everything out for you and hopefully it will stay that way ❤️.
Ahh no! Hopefully it’s not all come back and it will keep at bay, but definitely keep an eye on it as you don’t want that all back again.
I feel that the surgery has helped but still having little issues but dunno if it’s the fact that I still have to have another operation and that I am still healing, but hoping I am on the right track though.
I am finding that my anxieties have got worse though, but I dunno if this could be to do with that I was on zodalex for six months and then I’ve suddenly come off and been given the coil and my hormones are all over the place because the injections are coming out of my system now, as I have heard it can take a few months for it to all come out. I know it has nothing to do with the coil, so I am putting it down to bring the injections tbh. It honestly feels like my body is drained and exhausted from it all.
I have my review this Thursday so will be able to speak to the doctor in more detail and shall see what they say ❤️.
