hi guys, I have tested positive for covid for the second time as of today, and I’m worried about the implications on my planned laparoscopy. My pre op appointment is on the 13th of August (15 days away) and my surgery is scheduled for the 22nd (24 days away). I’m not sure what to do! Is it safe for me to have the op this close to having covid? Presumably I’ll be over it by the time my pre op comes around but I’m not sure if it’ll be cancelled or if it’s even recommended to have the op at all so soon after having covid?
What should I do?
Anyone with any info I’d really appreciate some advice!
Thank you x

Hi, I had covid at the beginning of July. They phoned me to book me in for a lap the week after as they had a cancellation but they couldn't book me in as my hospital says you have to wait 7 weeks after covid to have an operation, I don't know if that's just my hospital or all hospitals. The best thing you can do is give them a call and ask x
Hi,The same thing happened to me, I caught COVID 2 weeks before my hysterectomy. My operation had to be cancelled until 7 weeks later. I think it's in your best interest to inform your specialist/hospital to be on the safe side.
I didn't lose my place on the list and was given a date immediately after my 7 weeks was up.
hi l was in a similar waiting time when l had Covid, rang my pre op assessment ANP and was told had to wait a minimum of 7 weeks so now looking at mid September, hope this helps..
Thanks everyone, the same has happened to me. Have to wait 7 weeks to be able to have the op but not sure if they’ll even be able to fit me in in mid September. I can still go to my pre op assessment though as it’s supposedly valid for three months. Hopefully they can get be in before that three months is up.
