Worst period pain

Hi, I had my laparoscopy last weds as I said in a previous post. My period arrived today and the pain is as bad as ever! I feel so nauseated and can't eat. My flow is as heavy as pre laparoscopy. My surgeon said there was minimal endo tissue that she removed and unstuck my left ovary. Any suggestions what I should do? My follow up appt isn't until Oct. Is it worth bothering my Gp?

Hi,Sorry to hear you're feeling so rubbish! But don't worry because you will hopefully feel better during you next period xx

Your situation sounds very familiar to mine. I had my first Lap in May.

I had endo tissue around both ovaries and my left ovary side had stuck to my urinary track which was separated during the surgery. Not all endo tissue was removed but most around my ovaries I believe was.

Unexpectedly, my period arrived pretty much on time after the surgery (a week after having my Lap).

I was in agony (as bad if not worse than pre surgery) and took some cocodamol to mask the pain. I have put this down to a lot of internal bits were still healing!

My second period was loads better and I could cope after taking two ibuprofen (which was never the case before as it would only slightly dull the pain before). Flow had also improved at this stage as I was very reliant on tranexamic acid before to slow things down.

It's up to you, if you want to chat to you GP that is. I believe you may find your second period will be better. However, your GP is there to listen to any of your concerns and support you. You are not alone xx

Thank you. Its good to know I am not alone with feeling like this. As with you it came a week after my lap. I will remain hopeful that the next isn't as bad. I need to speak to my gp anyway about another sick note as I'm not ready to go back to work so might mention it just to see what they think. Thanks again.

That's a great idea. Listen to your body and do what's right for you. I would also suggest if you could get some stronger pain killers if you're still struggling (I saw in one of your other posts you were only given paracetamol after your Lap?!) I hope things improve for you xx

Yes that's correct. Only paracetamol and ibuprofen if needed. I'm fed up of the pain but it's the same as any other period so I'm used to it in a way. Which no one should be but its just how it goes. My job is in retail so can be quite physical hence me wanting a bit more time off. Have had 2 short walks in 2 days and it's totally exhausted me. Yesterday was a completely horrible day. Was sleeping pretty much all day as I was so exhausted. It may be laparoscopy but god it takes it out of you.

It's such a shame you are still going through a really tough time. I hope that your next period is a lot smoother and a lot less pain. Something we can all dream of I'm sure xx

Going through this right now, having a horrible period after my laparoscopy. I had mine 2 weeks ago and I am still so tired all the time, having lots of naps after doing anything!t I was told to expect an uncomfortable and heavy period and that was normal! Trying my best to just keep on top of pain meds and drink loads of water. Sending you love and speedy recovery you're not alone - Of course if anything feels wrong go to your GP - Your gut has got a diagnosis never ignore it again! x

I'm sorry to hear you are going through a really tough time. Its almost 2 weeks post op for me and I'm exhausted all the time. Definitely listening to my body, it's frustrating as I want to do so much but I can't.
