Hi,
They're just going to weigh you, ask you all the usual questions regarding your health and do some blood tests. They'll also swab you for MRSA (I think) - my appointment last month took about an hour.
Hi Kay92jay
Hope your pre-op appointment went okay today? 😊
When is your laparoscopy booked for? Endometriosis UK have a great resource all about preparing for your laparoscopy, which you might find helpful: endometriosis-uk.org/your-l...
If you have any questions, feel free to ask away!
Take care,
Claudia
Thank you Claudia, it is a week tomorrow x
Hope it goes smoothly 😊 A couple of things that helped me:Take a pillow to put on your abdomen for the journey home.
Drink peppermint tea to help with the shoulder pain (from the gas that's used to inflate your stomach).
Prepare a few low-fibre meals for the first few days.
Make sure you have underwear and joggers with a baggy waist to wear post-op.
Follow the guidelines the hospital gives you on when to shower, drive etc. and especially the advice on pain meds and stitches.
And rest as much as possible in the first couple of weeks, it will help your healing in the long term 😊
Good luck and take care.
Claudia
Hi, Do you receive a pre-op appointment after you receive an operation date? I've had quite a few appointments I've attended now and was wondering if this is another appointment required before the laparoscopy? Thankyou
I have had one and my daughter has had one. My advise is to ask the nurses or doctor what its about. Don't be afraid to ask them. That is what they are there for. Each team may have a slightly different procedure, so they are the ones to tell you. My daughter and I both had general anaesthetic, yours might be epidural. So ask, we both had a very small incision into our abdomen just below the belly button about the width of a thumb nail. It was closed with a dissolvable stitch. It ached a little afterwards for both of us. My daughter felt a bit stiff and found walking the day after a bit uncomfortable because her investigation was a bit more extensive than mine. We were both asked to remove jewellery, except wedding rings that were taped over. My daughter couldn't get her piercing out of her belly button so the surgeon did it for her and put it back! But ask and ask and ask. Never be afraid to speak to the people who are doing the work.
