Hello! I’ve been diagnosed with frozen pelvis a couple of months ago. I asked my consultant to go straight for an ivf. I did saw him yesterday and offered me to start with decapeptyl sr injections.I started searching about these injections and read lots of side effects and I’m really worried as I already suffer from debilitating pains. Are these injections a common way of starting procedure before Ivf??? Or can i avoid them?

Hey, I don't have any experience with IVF but I have taken Decapeptyl for endometriosis. I'll be honest I had an absolutely awful time with it, but that doesn't mean you will. My advice is to get as many medical opinions as you can, I have seen that it is something that a lot of people are prescribed before IVF but it wont be the only route and certainly wont be the only way to have a successful IVF treatment.

If you can avoid it it may be for the best but if you cant and you do take it, just look out for side effects. If they're too much or getting in the way of your daily life, stop the treatment, just listen to your body.

Sorry I cant be more help. And sorry your going through such a horrible time with it all.

Hey, I was given it for endometriosis so it was different and honestly my doctor gave it to me for wayyy to long. I has 13 monthly injections back to back and the side effects were awful from day one. Genuinely I'd say if it was really awful and they're other routes you can take to having a successful IVF treatment I would do that. Ill be honest some people have long term effects afterwards, I definitely have. It's not something that should be taken as lightly as most doctors make it out to be

I don't want to needlessly scare you or anyone but they haven't really. I stopped taking it in 2015. The problem was that the hormonal strain on my body caused me to develop fibromyalgia and CFS I think about half way through the course. So its really difficult to work out what was side effects from the injection and what was symptoms of these conditions, so I really couldnt say when they wore off or if they did. But my periods did start again after 3 months off of it and were back to my usual about 6 months after.

When did you have the injection ?

if it effected you that badly then I really wouldnt have another. Its one of those things that just really doesnt suit some people.

I took it on the 18th of May so a little over a month ago and just wondering how long till I feel normal again! Its the fatigue, hot flashes and palpitations that are crazy for me now the rest of the rest of the side effects were also intense but I managed those so far after a few ER visits for painkillers and anti nausea meds, i also got flu like symptoms, horrible migraines, dizziness, anxeity, depression, mood swings, sore throat, heavy headedness and breathing, didn’t expect it to be this bad !

It really is so horrible for some people ! Sounds like you've been through such a rough time with it. I know a month going through this feels like a lifetime but it will probably take a little longer to reset your hormones. I'd say talk to your doctor but it'll probably be a little longer. it should all go back to normal though. Luckily you only did a month. I really hope everything goes alright for you and you are feeling back to yourself soon !

I'm so sorry to hear this but I'm also so relieved I'm not alone. I've taken 2 3-monthly injections, first in March 2022 and the second one in June 2022. The first time the side effects were horrible already, headaches, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness & pain with intercourse. I went ahead and got the second dose anyway, as it was such a big relief to be having no periods for a bit. Big mistake, I ended up being completely exhausted, palpitations, chest pain, plus the other side effects got worse. I am still not back to my old health, but slowly gaining more energy.

I used to be an endurance athlete, running distances of 30+ km in the mountains. Today I did my third park run since Decapeptyl, in a time I would have been able to walk it in before Decapeptyl. Having struggled with fatigue for months now, I still struggle with tiredness, and chest pains. I feel so sad about it all and I haven't heard of anyone who's had a similar experience, so I'm so so sorry you're still going through this when you had yours in 2013, and that you carried on for 13 months with it :(. Thanks for sharing though, it really helps.

Thank you so much for sharing and responding to my post. Like you I'm so so sorry that you've had a bad time with it and that you have had a similar experience to me. I don't think either of us are alone, I've spoken to alot of people now that have had similar experiances. I so hope that they do research on it and why some people have such awful long lasting side effects. And I completely understand feeling sad about it, I do still.

I'm so glad your health seems to be improving though and congratulations on your park runs ! I know its so so frustrating not being able to do what you were able to do but its still a massive achievement. And I just hope youre back to your old self soon.

If it makes you feel at all better my health has been improving this last year. I even managed a full day walking down the river today which would have been totally impossible even a year ago, so there is hope that you will bounce back. Hopefully its relatively quickly ! Just be kind to your body, as frustrating as it is have patience and stay hopeful. I really wish you the best of luck and trust that I am standing with you giving the medical establishment a big middle finger for telling all of us that this stuff is totally safe.

p.s im so happy for you that you were strong enough to realise that something was wrong and stopped taking it when you did, I cant imagine that was an easy choice.

Hi, I took Decapeptyl during my stimulation. At the same day I took the trigger. I didn’t have any side effects. It’s just a hassle to mix the product. Sanne

Thank you for your answer 😊That’s interesting. So you didn’t had Decapeptyl before your stimulation

Nope i didnt. I do have endo as well but only stage one and they removed it. It seems that my doctor use it to prevent ovulation at the same time as trigger is given. But honestly, no side effects, just difficult to administer.
