To those under the NHS, how long have you been waiting for your laparoscopy? It’ll be a year for me now, which in fairness they warned me could be the case, and each time I call to enquire about the queue I’m told they still haven’t resumed non-cancer surgeries. However, I’m seeing quite a few posts on here about women having their laparoscopies and I’m wondering if that’s because they’ve gone private, or are they on a higher priority? I don’t mean to sound entitled, I’m just confused and exhausted from this almost constant pain, as we all are. Any insight would be much appreciated xxx
NHS Waiting Times: To those under the NHS... - Endometriosis UK
NHS Waiting Times
I was told on Friday that its a 2 year waiting list in Norwich, Norfolk.
I get it, you’re a worn out EndoWarrior needing answers.
In Leicestershire I’ve been waiting a year and told in the next 2-3 months hopefully!
Cannot afford to go private x x x
I’m already waiting 8-10 weeks for an urgent referral to the Endometriosis consultant. Let’s see how long I’ll have to wait for a laparoscopy, which is highly likely since a vaginal scan showed a 4 cm cyst (TBC whether endometrioma or dermoid) on left ovary - My right ovary was removed by oopherectomy less than 3 yrs ago and I was riddled with endometriosis, but some residual was left at the time.
I was referred to a gynaecologist last May and still haven’t even had that appointment yet. I therefore decided to go private for the consultation and be put on that doctors nhs list, and could be waiting a year for that. It’s just such a mess. I’m in Liverpool xxx
You can get a private appointment with a gynaeclogist in Northern Ireland even the next day in some cases.
As of today, I’m 50 weeks on the waiting list. Initially told a few months and then was just told to keep waiting. My case was upgraded to more urgent back in January but made no difference. I’m being seen at Colchester
I was finally referred to general gynae at my local hospital In May last year and had the appointment in November 2021 (though had been told it was going to be at least Feb 2022). I thought that was pretty good in the wake of Covid catch up! I then had my lap on the 23rd December but not with an endo specialist and I think I would have preferred to have waited longer for the right person! I’ve now been referred by my GP to another hospital for a second opinion.
I am on a waiting list to see a gynacelogist for heavy periods due to priemenopause. I have been told that the waiting list is 19 months this is Northern Ireland. I could be in the menopause stage at this time.
I had to wait 2 mths to see the surgeon from being referred by my GP, had the appointment today and told there's a 12 - 18mth waiting time for the surgery At least i'm on the list now i'm thinking, this is after 3 previous surgery's (2009/14/18) and still ongoing symptoms which seem to be getting worse the older I get/ the longer this goes on. Been given the option of Prostap/Gonapeptyl injections whilst i'm waiting for surgery - Currently looking into & researching them. - Any advice/personal experience greatly appreciated. S.
