TERRIBLE UTI FEELING FOR A MONTH POST SURGERY.

Hello ladies. I am having the worst time with intense bladder pain post diagnostic lap. UTI come back negative for infection so it appears its not bacterial. Anyone else had this experience and able to offer advice? It's crippling and much worse than the pain I had pre surgery. I can't bear more weeks of it.

Hi Enilorac1984,

I'm really sorry to hear this. I know that awful feeling well and how painful and debilitating it can be. For me, it's the worst symptom of my Endo experience. When my Endo decides to do its absolute worst, my periods turn into a UTI which then goes in search of my kidney. I'm afraid I've suffered from this on/off since I was 18 (I'm now 40) and I really, really wish I could give you some great advice that will alleviate the pain. I try and drink plenty of water, even though that's the last thing I want.

As this is happening post-op, I think it's worth having a chat with your gynaecologist/doctor/healthcare professional and asking for their opinion. Hopefully, they'll be able to offer some assistance. Wishing you all the best.

My sister had a similar problem and it turned out that during the surgery her uretha had been badly damaged and she now has to self cathertise when this happens. You should get a scan of the area done by a good specialist. I'm really sorry to hear this , I don't think that surgeons explains the risks involved in operations fully at all. But it is unusual in just a diagnostic lap. You probably need to see a different doctor. Or go back and make a huge fuss but I'd go to a different doc.

Both of the previous. Like you my bladders been horribly reactive along the way. Antibiotics abounding.

The operation gas can have a huge effect on the pelvic floor and diaphragm with the overstretched abdominal tissue . Which in turn can mean randomly triggering of nerves to the pelvic area ( uterus, bladder & bowel ) so it may well be that that is setting things off. Some women it takes months to settle.

It maybe an infection still.

Bacteria can bury itself apparently like little pods into bladder tissue - hence inflammation etc but as it’s not actually in the urine itself it won’t grow a culture. Or the culture may not be tested for hence incorrect analysis. There’s a useful discussion of this phenomena by Imperial Colleges top bladder chap at an Ehlos Danlos symposium (2017??) on You Tube….there’s one bug they weren’t regularly testing for that they are now associating with bladder incontinence and persistent “no infection determined” results . You only find what you test for syndrome.

The rearrangement of the pelvic area from both the endo itself and the surgery maybe stirring things up . Weak pelvic area / over tight pelvic area can promote pain. Maybe this might help explain. Have a listen and see if it rings any bells for you.

Hi, I've had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago and I experience pain on emptying my bladder, but only at the end of the flow. I've heard that they are bladder spasms and generally take several weeks to improve..I've been drinking cranberry juice just to help improve my bladder health and avoid infection.

Not what you're looking for?
