I was supposed to have surgery yesterday and it was cancelled at the last hour. I had a positive covid test apparently although nobody told me until I was in the hospital and was waiting to be booked in - the hospital is 2 hours away from me.
Me and my son had stopped mixing with people - 3 weeks ago, I was WFH and home schooling as covid is riff here. I have not mixed other than work since January as I knew it would be delayed 7 weeks. I have no idea how we could have got it and can't believe I got it the weekend of my surgery.
Those that have had cancelled surgery how have you pulled your head back round? I've been on an emotional rollercoaster - as we all have - and was so prepped for it with childcare, my job, I was mentally prepared for it. And now have to go back to work and start again. Originally I was told my surgery would be last July. So this year has been an emotional toll. I cant stop crying. I just don't know if I can wait a minimum of 7 weeks and try and do it all again. My consultant is lovely, such a kind person but his secretary is awful and I was pleased to be over dealing with her too if I was honest!
Thanks in advance
Abby

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I understand exactly how you feel, I had my own op cancelled back in November but due to not passing the pre-op. It's not just the normal preparations for the op, you also mentally prepare yourself. I was so upset, I'd already had a number of delays and this was just the last straw. However refocus yourself, see this as a practise run and that when the op comes round again, you will be doubly prepared. Take your own covid tests before the op too. Wishing you lots of luck, you are almost at the final hurdle, keep going you'll be right as rain soon xx
