I had dignostic lap in November which showed endo nodule on the uterosacral ligament and superficial in pouch of dogulas. I had no endo removed as the gynae said it was possible that the endo was deep so need a specialist to remove it. I have been referred to the specialist and had a mri that my normal gynae ordered and the mri came back clear with no endo. I'm so confused as the endo can't just magically go on its own. Now I don't know if my case will still be discussed in an mdt meeting due to mri coming back clear. As it was said to be during the gynae follow up that I will have mri then case will be discussed in mdt but would that still happen if mri came back clear or will they go by the operation findings? I really want excision surgery as the endo is causing a lot of pain. Anyone else had the same experience?
Anyone had experience of having a mri aft... - Endometriosis UK
Anyone had experience of having a mri after a lap surgery and the lap surgery showed endo (no endo was removed) but mri shows no endo
that sounds very frustrating
I had a lap in 2016 to remove 15 cm chocolate cyst I also had endometriosis in the pouch of Douglas, and other areas which apparently they zapped off they drained the cyst as unable to remove it
I got pregnant with my first child, 12 months later, and then endometriosis Pain came back much worse after having her
two years after that, I was lucky to have another child and again, endometriosis pain was horrific, following the birth
I had an MRI scan privately through the NHS
this apparently did not show in endometriosis
I can’t get any excursion surgery or more laps on the NHS instead give me prostap injections every 12 weeks ( no longer helping)
I think I think you need to push for another lap as an MRI only really shows lesions over 5 cm so you could potentially have significant endometriosis, but in smaller sizes a lap would show more
Thank you for your reply. Yeah it is frustrating just hope they still do excision surgery. Aww that must be awful for you too. That's a very good point
I’m pretty positive you often can’t see Endometriosis on MRIs or any scans - you might be able to see big legions or chocolate cysts etc but that’s it - the only way it can be diagnosed for sure is a laparoscopy. Hopefully they will be aware of this and just mean that you can’t see the Endo from the scans… but the surgery shows you do have it and that’s much more accurate - so if they start to tell you you don’t have Endo due to the MRI I would make sure you fight/ argue that.
