Hi everyone, I had my first lap yesterday. Have not been very well since (oy discharged this afternoon), and looking for some advice. Did anyone else develop a UTI as soon as they came round from anaesthetic? They've given me antibiotics but there seems to be a lot of blood in my urine. They've tried to pass this off as the regular vaginal bleeding you get after lap, but I'm almost certain it's coming from the bladder. Has anyone else experiences this?
Also, my dressings got changed earlier today, but just 4 hours later one is soaked through with blood. Is it normal for wounds to bleed like this? I'm completely unable to stand straight as well, but assume this is pretty normal?
Thanks for any advice! And thank you to those who have responded to my previous posts, apologies I have not had chance to respond with the last minute op!

Hi there. I had very similar after my lap 3 weeks ago. It felt pressure and uncomfortable when I had a wee. This is now starting to subside. They cut endo away from my bladder and also something to do with a band that runs from the tummy button to the bladder. I checked with my consultant and he said it should improve which it is. I also had bleeding which seemed to come every time I went to the loo. This has also now stopped. I hope that reassures you but only you know how you feel so worth calling 111 for advice if you’re unsure or the ward you were on if you’re able too. Your body has been through a lot… it takes time to heal. Be gentle with yourself. Good luck xx
I was told that there should only be mild bleeding on the dressings. Like less than a teaspoon. There was some pale discharge that soaked through one of the four ports.
Did the hospital give you a ward / post discharge contact for one week? I was kept in overnight, so was given the number of the ward I had stayed in, with ‘open access’ to phone for one week, for any queries. Have to say I did phone. I had a large blob of blood and mucous/ longing - but it was from my vagina.
Another friend developed a UTI after her laparoscopy.
But with the wound bleeding like that - definitely contact urgent out hour care eg via 111.
