6 months post lap, same symptoms, where do I go next?

Investigatingendo profile image

6 months post laparoscopy.

Symptoms include, bloating, painful sex during and after, sometimes for days. Period pains for 3 weeks of the month. Terrible cramping, fatigue. Previous extended and heavy periods (coil has helped with the bleeding but not the pain.) I was taken in for suspected endo and to remove a dermoid cyst, unfortunately the cyst was bigger than expected which meant they had to remove tube and ovary, they said no endo found. . I've got a call with gp tomorrow as I can't cope with being this uncomfortable every day. What do I ask? To be re referred? To see an endo specialist?

Hi ThereI am so sorry to hear what you are going through.

Back in September 2021 I had sereve lower abdominal pains, sereve lower back pains, bowels movement pain and pelivs pain, I had so many tests done in A and E blood tests CT scan etc. The CT scan found out I had a 8cm cyst attached to my left ovary, plevis wall and bowels.

I was referred urgently to a gynecologist the next day, I had ultrasound no clue what type of cyst it was the consultant thought it could be mucinous ovary cyst. I was booked in for urgent laparscorpy surgery bc the cyst had twisted.

You are showing the same symptoms I had before sugery all linked to endometriosis.

Now you need to get firm and put your foot down, with your GP say you are showing symptoms of endometriosis and you would like to be referred to endo specialist or gynecologist for further investigation bc I am in so much pain and it's affecting my daily life. Say you may think you be misdiagnosed. The sugeron misdiagnosed me thinking it was a mucinous ovary cyst but it ended up being endometriosis so it can happen doctors can misdiagnosis. Ask for MRI that will pick the endometriosis up and if wide spread. I had a MRI scan from my gynecologist to see if my endometriosis has spreaded awaiting for results.

I hope I have helped, I am all new to this. Please fight for a urgent referral and stay strong. The problem with the GP they will just brush it under the rug.

💛.

Thanks so much. I've had a call with gp today. She's referred me for ultrasound and booked me in for her to examine me on Thursday. I will ask for MRI and to see an endo specialist if possible. I honestly thought having the cyst and ovary removed that things would get better but they haven't xxx hope you get results soon x
