Hi,I took paracetamol and ibuprofen after my laparoscopy but came off those after about 4 days, I was really achey. I am only 2 weeks post surgery currently so Im not sure on recovery time however I was out of the hospital the day after my surgery and Im currently moving around and functioning normally. I’m just really careful of my stitches so no heavy lifting or any exercise other than walking- Im even avoiding picking up my dog
I only avoided alcohol before my surgery which I think is suggested as a standard and I just ate normally.
I hope this helps and I also hope you get your surgery soon.
I can’t take ibuprofen due to having IBS which sucks majorly, so did you have to stay overnight for the operation? I’ve been told day surgery which is just going in having it done and then providing I’m okay and I can wee I go home the same night
I was in overnight as due to being a weird case and I came out of surgery around 5pm, day surgery sound better as hospitals aren’t great places to try and recover or sleep and I was desperate to get home asap. During the night I received morphine but I can’t say I needed it. If you are worried about pain relief its good to discus your options with your surgeon because they’ll know more and be able to talk through options.
Yeah I definitely will because I’mCurrently on gabapentin 400mg for the sciatica which does help whatever is going on elsewhere. Me and pain do not get on whatsoever.l just the cramps I’ve been having it’s like foetal position, rocking back and forth, crying. It kills. Thank you for answering me and helping me, it means a lot
I don’t think I could do a night in hospital as I don’t like staying anywhere unfamiliar or where no one I know is with me. If that makes sense? I suffer with anxiety and panic attacks
Hi , had my laparoscopy last year , had codeine and ibuprofen for pain relief, was about one week on them , after surgery had just soup and loads of water, and then started to eat normal , will feel a little bloated for the first days , I was on my feet 3 days after ( no heavy lifting, walking every day ) and back to work after 2 weeks. Wishing you all the best and speedy recovery
Thank you so much for your help, was your only in for the day or was you in overnight? I’m worried what pain relief they are gonna put me on cause I can’t take ibuprofen due to IBS & codeine makes me sick.
My job is a physical heavy lifting job so god knows when I’m gonna be able to go back to it. Still currently off now because the cysts I’ve got are pushing on a sciatic nerve causing sciatica
I was only for the day , had my laparoscopy at 2 pm and at 7 pm I was out , pain relief I had codeine but can ask the surgeon before hand to prescribe you something else .
