Levosert Question's

So two weeks ago today I had a smear, a biopsy and the Levosert coil fitted all at the same appointment, last week I went back to the doctors to get it checked as I had been suffering with stomach aches every time I did something strenuous, the day I went to the doctors my period started but I had already been bleeding due to what I had previously had done a week after going to the doctors and I am still bleeding, so have now been bleeding for two weeks straight!! Yesterday I went for another ultrasound to check the coil as I can't feel the strings and now have to wait for the results of that and still haven't had the results of my biopsy yet, should I still be bleeding two weeks down the line??

hi Suzy, I have never had the coil fitted but I have heard that it can cause irregular or prolonged bleeding until your body gets used to it so it’s quite normal although very annoying for you! I was the same on the mini pill but came off it as I have fibroids that were too large hence why they wouldn’t fit the coil. I get pain from my fibroid which I am in injections for to shrink prior to surgery, but living with constant pelvic pain is debilitating😥I hope you get your results soon and start to get relief from your symptoms - don’t be afraid to ask your doc questions as well if you are concerned about the bleeding , you can ask for blood work to be done regularly to keep on top of your iron levels. Xxx

Thanks for your advice, I have contacted my G.P today as I have now been bleeding for almost 6 weeks and am feeling pretty lethargic so just waiting for a call back!!
