Desogestral questions

I’ve been put on the progesterone only pill to prevent endometriosis to come back or get worse. But I’m not clear on how it is supposed to help? Still bleeding and have heard that it doesn’t stop the scarring. I’m just thinking now what’s the point of taking it, if it doesn’t stop the scarring? Does anyone have any views or answers?

Thanks for responding it just seems like a weird one. And a lot of reviews are saying similar things

Hi Staa

It has helped with with the pain and has made my periods less heavy.

I think different people have different results, apparently stops periods all together for some. I take a double dose back to back.

It has certainly made my endo bearable which it was not before. I have stage 4 and frozen pelvis.

I would say its worth giving it a try for 6 months and if it doesn’t help then stop taking it.

Thank you Jo, I was told that it will stop the periods completely so that the process of endo would be reduced. But if I’m still bleed just doesn’t make sense at all.

I think it does for some people x

I tried this from December to lap in Feb, didn’t help with pain much, but did with emotions. I hadn’t been diagnosed at that point, consultant said to stay on it. I think it helps reduce/balance oestrogen.

Hi! I have been on the POP for nearly 15years to control endo and it really helped me. I would stick at it for a while for it to get in your system. I didn’t have a period for the whole time I was on it and when I had a scan recently the endo had suppressed :)

Hi there, I am just wondering if any of you had spotting everyday before you tried the mini pill? I've had spotting every day for a month, worse on a morning and usually always something there when wiping 😟 I was.told I needed a hysterectomy 7 year ago with severe endo, I have controlled very well with diet until a few month ago when I start eating wheat again and I got the unbearable pain to the point I nearly passed out, I have had the spotting since then, Im also 49 and in perimenapause. X

I had issues with many mini pills causing issues a number of years ago but 2 years ago I was in to much pain during my period to not re consider . Two years on i was asked to increase my dose to 2 per day and it has helped massively with the period symptoms. I didn’t notice the bad experiences I had had before but this could also be because I now took a different brand to previous years . It took about 4 cycles for my period to stop and although I still get daily cramps and back pain - it has massively helped with the crippling pain I had during my period and even during ovulation. Docs always say give it chance and in this instance they were correct for me anyway. I didn’t have many options at that stage so am glad it helped for periods at least. I also think it acts differently in your mentality depending on age I am 38.
