I've been in severe pain for 3 days, ovulating and didn't get out of bed for 2 days for the pain. See my post earlier today. Rang GP and had a call back GP requested a urine sample and to go in for an examination. I had a suspected UTI in June - treated with 3 day antibiotic.
Upon examining me and my describing my symptoms- he said to me I think it's your back, a bad back. Your carrying some extra weight and have a small toddler.
I am so upset and absolutely mortified. I'm probably 2-3 stone overweight a size 12-14.
I asked him about the fact this pain is not new and I experience it every month and that this month, past 3 days in particular it has been unbearably painful. Could it be related to suspected endometriosis? He said no, that endometriosis occurs during the second half of the cycle and around period and bleeding not anything to do with ovulation, if I'm saying it's happening around ovulation I should keep a symptom diary from now on. I explained that I do track my symptoms and there is a correlation with ovulation and increase pain aside from all the other symptoms and he dismissed it saying we all could think we were in pain last month with a similar thing etc...
I am so upset.

I'm sorry you've been treated this way I'd make a formal complaint you can do this by emailing the practice manager in a nice way the thing to do is tell them it's endometriosis and you want treated don't have them making guessing games wether your diagnosed or not you know your own body tell them you have endometriosis pain is worse around ovulation what can you do for me ?
Thank you- i cried down the phone to my Husband and he said the same- to make a complaint. I am going to do this. I feel like it's impossible to get a referral despite my symptoms, complaints and trips to the doctors. I just want someone to take my symptoms seriously and when I say I've been in pain and bedbound for 3 days to listen.!
I started exactly like you had them guessing but deep inside I knew I had endo I couldn't be taken seriously after my third appointment One was private I'd had enough .I had a private consultation with a specialist he confirmed my endo without a lap only examining.i wrote a formal complaint and asked for a specialist they tried to put me through a lap with general gynaecologist But I wouldn't have it as that's just a diagnosis so I ended being on referral list for the specialist I saw privately though a long wait I waited a year just for that I couldn't walk I was bed bound couldn't get to work the docs didn't care I told them my life is effected you must be seen quickly before it gets worse I had rectal bleeding start from all the waiting I even had a misscarrige but then they would avoid endo and just talk about that it's very hard to get people to listen you must complain if you've not had correct treatment
Thank you for your encouragement. I'm sorry you've experienced such a long wait to get treatment. I'm going to complain and push for a referral to my local endometriosis centre. Your right, I know my body and the more I read the more everything I experience screams endo. You've been such help following that upset today x
If you look on the bsge list online for endometriosis specialists write the name of who you would like to see on paper you can even see the nurse for this!and tell them this is who you want to be referred to that's what I did they are not allowed to refuse referrals as far as my nurse says but some people do my gynaecologist refused and I left his care as I didn't want unnecessary surgery you may get conflicting advice on here and people will tell you to have surgery and there's protocols to go through but if you push hard enough you won't need to have unnecessary surgery you know you have it so why take a look inside to check .my surgery notes had all plus and minus signs on I asked advice on what they meant and someone told me it meant they may treat it and they might not.thats not good enough for me to be cut open and only a little taken away especially if I have symptoms of it on my bowl.furthermore the endo diet helped me a lot I'm now expecting a baby 25 weeks and feel it helped me conceive I also became a lot more pain free .the book what helped me the most was Laura birden period repair manual (section on endo) and I found a few people on Instagram which knew a lot about diet read a few articles and journals online x
Thank you so much, you've been so much help. Congratulations on your pregnancy too! I was so very lucky to conceive 2 children and I am so so grateful to have been able to do that. I'll take a look at the Laura Birden book. Xx
Thankyou so much I've been quite lucky in that department also and don't feel like I've had endo my whole life but after a c section 4 years ago.so I've been lucky catching on and baby still here the endo hasent had chance to get too bad maybe?if it's any consolation I will be going on the coil after the birth as I read it's the best one for endo I had It in the past didn't have endo then and I liked it so I'm hoping it will be effective! surgery can cause adhesions which are very painful and cause more issues . I'm feeling it this pregnancy here's to becoming pain free 🥂
I've just seen your previous post and you didn't seem to mention the rectal bleeding to your g.p or spotting well that's not to do with a bad back on your next appointment write down all your symptoms and hand it to your g.p or read from it you have classic symptoms of endo x
I have shared those symptoms with a GP before, about a year ago and just got prescribed cerazette. I guess it's a case of going back and back again.... till someone listens?
Are you wanting to have surgery for endo ?have you made diet changes or considered any other contraception the only help is contraception, diet or surgery but endo can return x
I'm beginning to make dietary changes and I've considered contraception. I experience aura migraines so cerazette or the coil were my options. I tried the deppo injection which did alliviete symptoms 6yrs ago but I experienced rapid weight gain and increased anxiety and depression so was recommended to come off it.
Sorry to hear how you have been treated by your doctor. nobody should be treated like this ! I would make a complaint and if you could change your doctor.
Mine pain is at the same level it has been for the past 3 days. It's radiating down my legs and in my pelvic area (R side). With twinge of pain and cramping intermittently. I have never suffered with a bad back, ever. But this pain is not new to me, it's just more intense and lasting longer than previous months. I hope you get some relief.
