Potential endo and non-hormonal IUD

I think I have endo, or something similar. I've been on painkillers, NSAIDs and have had an ultrasound that was normal. I am now waiting for my referral to the gyno.

I was recommended the birth control pill when I was younger to reduce the symptoms but I don't want anything hormonal. I got the non-hormonal IUD fitted in last year and I love it, it has made my period a tiny bit worse but it has always been bad.

When I was talking to my gyno about the referral, it was as if they were pushing me against a lap. They said it would take 6months, it might not find anything, and perhaps I should try swapping my IUD for the hormonal one, which removes periods. Also they said like, another reason for a gyno/lap would be if I wanted children. And that even though it hurts I can still have sex. But I have always had this pain?

But then they said it's important we get to the bottom of the problem, and did refer me and also did say that if they find something at the lap I could switch my IUDs then while I am under (which is preferred!)

You don’t have to have a hormonal coil - mirena - but if it is endo it’s sense to have the copper coil out as it can make things a lot worse.
