Hi all, after being on the waitlist for a diagnostic laparoscopy for over a year and being told my life insurance I’m not eligible for cover until I’m diagnosed. I just wanted to ask if anyone else is in a similar position and has been able get some life cover? Having bought a house with my partner I’m constantly on edge worrying about getting in a car crash on the way to work and being seriously injured or something and left in a difficult situation with money.. I have no intention of needing life cover but it’s better to be safe and all that haha!! Sorry to be morbid, just at a loss with trying to find a solution at the moment!

Yes I was in same position and wants able to find any cover. I had been on waiting list for 2 years finally had surgery last month but had been declined by various companies.

I haven't tried now I have had the surgery. I would be keen to know if there are any particular companies anyone would recommend to help those with Endo

I'm with vitality for life insurance and have endo and adeno! X

Did you need to wait until you had proper diagnosis? I had an internal scan and have been told there’s evidence of endo and I have slight adeno too!x

That's a good question! It was after I had a diagnosis. If you've been given a diagnosis via scan then that's still a diagnosis - so that's good! However, I've just had a hysterectomy due my adenomyosis and, as far as my consultant explained, they can formally diagnose that until a biopsy has been done as its the only way to diagnose xx

I feel really anxious about the adenomyosis, like I’ve researched endo a lot but was actually a little shocked when he said I had some slight adeno within the walls of my womb. Like I don’t know what treatments help or whatever. Just really worries me 😂 when I have my lap to formally diagnose my endo, I’m going to have the mirena (little reluctant but thought it was worth a try). Like, just other than hysterectomy, I don’t know what else there is! 🙈I hope the hysterectomy went well for you and hopefully will relief some of your pains!xx

The only non-surgical option got adeno is hormonal treatment such at the mirena coil - so seems like you're already going down the best route anyway!

I had the mirena coil for 2.5 years, and defo saw an improvement in my symptoms as I wasn't having the horrendous periods anymore. However, my adeno continued to get worse despite the coil for some reason, and my uterus was just massive so only option to get any relief was the hysterectomy. I'm 6 weeks post op and already feel so much better than I did ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you! That’s reassuring, I’ve only seen negative stories with the coil. Previously before knowing endo was even a thing, I was on the copper coil which actually ended up slipping, twice, not fun! So after having had two coils I had been really put off but praying the mirena is helpful! My gynae is soooo supportive so fingers crossed. (Finally, after seeing 3)

Can I ask, how old are you? Also, how long did you have your symptoms? In so pleased your hysterectomy has had a positive impact! ❤️❤️

Fingers crossed this one stays put for you!

I'm in my mid-30's. I had my symptoms for 5 years. Although, when speaking to gynes over the past few years, we now think I've been suffering for a lot longer by it was considered heavy periods at the time, but intensified after a pregnancy!

From talking to someone else, there symptoms got worse after pregnancy too! Worrying haha! Glad you’ve managed to get support! I’m 25 and probably not going to ttc for another few years yet😅x

I managed to get life insurance about 6 months after my lap... non chance of getting it whilst you're in the process as the'll say you're in the midst of a medical invesigation!

Hello I'm in the same position. Fortunately I kept my life insurance from my previous flat so at least some of the mortgage is covered as its not against the property.

There are various ways of getting life insurance so maybe worth speaking to a financial specialist.

Sending good luck hugs to you x x

I got life & critical care insurance decade's ago.But when I enquired if I claim, I couldn't, as endometriosis isn't a known condition, or anything linked to it.

I haven't worked in over a year, since I as hospitalised in Dec, 2020.

Still waiting for surgery.

I do think insurance companies need to look at updating an add more existing conditions.

Especially with new conditions popping up, which people will not have any idea of.

Jasmin24 , Sunrach , evickery1 , TealSwan thank you all for your responses. It’s so frustrating and feels so discriminating. I wish you all the best x
