Has anyone had a lap or endo treatment through beneden?

I joined beneden when my endo started getting really bad, and I’m almost at my 6 month qualifying period for treatment. The website says they’ll consider paying for your treatment if nhs waiting lists are causing distress and disruption to your daily life. The waiting list I’m on is 18 months and I’m in a lot of pain and my mental health suffering because of the condition. I’m really hoping they’ll cover my op so I can have it done sooner!

Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, so you got health insurance even though you declared your illness?

No one will cover me having endometriosis, it's classified as a chronic illness. So I asked the lady if I was suppose to be covered before the age of 9 then since that's when I started having my issues. It's quite unfair but I can't make them do anything about it.

I'll say look to PALS, no one should suffer waiting for treatment.

I looked at insurance and you had to be two year clear of anything for it to then be covered and if you didnt declare something and they found out you would get hit with a big bill

Hi. I used my benenden insurance for my MRI and private consultations. I had already waited 7 months from referral and mri wait was minumin 3 more months. Also the hospital said they wouldn't be able to give me more than a couple days notice (which was never going to work for me as my work schedule takes me all over country and I'm booked up 2 months in advance).

Benenden were great and v friendly. It was so easy.. I phoned up to ask if they could help and told them my condition is painful. They gave me a temporary bupa code there and then for me to use when booking in at a clinic from their list. I'd definitely recommend giving them a call. Make it clear the disruption, stress and pain the wait is causing you.. and if fertility is involved, tell them that too. Good luck x

... I already had cover when I was diagnosed. Endo had been suggested to me but previously I'd refused the diagnostic lap so had no official diagnosis.

Likewise I didn’t have my formal diagnosis, though Beneden can cover pre-existing illnesses

I waited for 6 months hoping to get help but they let me down totally. They don’t seem to cover feminine issues. I basically cancelled my subscription. Please contact them and ask all the questions you need.
