Pre-Op

Hiya,

I’m hoping for a bit of advice. So I used to live down south where they were adamant I had endo. At the end of last year I moved to the midlands and since been told it’s unlikely to be endo and more likely to be IBS but they’ll do the laparoscopy - even though I have very little symptoms of IBS outside the symptoms that cross over between the 2 conditions and more in line with endo. They redid my scan from down south and they found polycystic ovaries which neither of us were expecting. It makes sense as I used to have such irregular periods but as I’ve been on the mini pill for some time they cannot officially diagnose PCOS as my hormone levels are fine? My gynae said despite this it’s not related to my pain as I’m not having periods and the pain is outside any natural cycle.

After this the next day I got my pre op. Basically I’m starting to get nervous about the fact what if I don’t have endo and my gynea basically says “I told you so” and then there’s no real explanation from the pain. My last place was adamant on it and now my new gynae isn’t convinced and it’s starting to make me really anxious

Sorry for waffling - not sure if it made any sense.. but any advice would be useful ☹️

Hello I’m also Midlands (Birmingham) and I was told for years that I had endo. Had a lap to be told I’ve only got adenomyosis and bowel adhesions Tbh my symptoms are text book endo so really do want a second opinion. But you know your own body you know something isn’t right even if it’s not endo could be something else

I hate that you've been told you've 'only' got adenomyosis - it's just as awful as endometriosis (and is actually the same condition but they grow in different areas!) It makes me really sad that endo is so misunderstood by medical professionals and, in turn, adeno even less so and we're made to feel like our issues are 'only' something - when we live with daily pain and other problems :'(

Tell me about it. I went to have my coil taken out earlier on today and the nurse said ‘so you’ve got endo in the uterus’ I’mLike Honnestly I don’t know everyone is telling me differently ! I went into my lap fearing the worse that they don’t find anything like you are. It’s normal. They will find soemthing. Your body won’t be playing tricks on you all this time. Do you mind me asking where your having surgery ?
