I am not sleeping from so many days just of this pain had an appointment with gp for depression and anxiety and he had given me more strong painkiller i was on naproxen but it was not helpful so gp has prescribed me tramadol hydrochloride for pain and Sertraline for anxiety and low mood. does anyone used this ? I am already not sleeping from last one year and I come to know that the side effect of sertaline is insomnia if I am feeling depressed because of less sleep and pain does it worth taking sertaline for mood and sleep.thank you.

hey sweetie how's u doing today 🙂 I also don't sleep because of pain and I was prescribed sertraline to help me sleep and my anxiety and depression but to be honest hun it numbed me mentally and emotionally, I certainly didn't help with sleep either. if you haven't started taking it yet then you'll be able to try more natural options for depression and anxiety as well as inflammation (if you wanted to of course). endometriosis has now stopped me working, I am/was a fully qualified Councillor and I would always suggest a more natural approach first 🙂

unfortunately I'm still an Insomniac and I haven't found anything that would help you with that if pain is what wakes you up, like it does myself. I hope you feel better soon and if you eva fancy a rant or chat plz pm me, u are not alone in this 😊 xxxx

hello means it will not help me in sleeping but makes me more insomnia..and for anxiety and depression I have all with this endometriosis ?does it helped u in overthinking and for ur mood?actually from last some months I do overthinking even at night I tried so many times to divert my mind as sometimes I think about nothing like even I don't understand what I am thinking about like small things I repeat repeat and repeat.

I do the same thing hun I try not to let my mind wonder to much, at night I sit and play puzzle games on my phone (whilst listening to music) then a film (also on my phone) 😂 but I get where ur coming from endometriosis is a horrible condition, it can make u feel alone, lonely, depressed & anxious but I'd be more concerned if you weren't feeling like that 😊 anytime you want to chat let me know, do you have a good support system? xxx

hello actually I had both the medicine yesterday sertaline and tramadol but it made me more in bad condition I vomited too ,headache and stomach pain, back pain like more pain i fainted also so I need to call emergency number at night. not slept whole night I am not in condition to do work today but I don't know what to do know its early morning I am writing this please help me .

ahh hun how's u feeling now? if u eva feel like u can't cope any more I would always suggest a+e, if not at least call in sick and rest xxxx

hi I got follow up appointment for 9th of September from gynecologist..I hope I will get some solutions for my problem on that day..I waited so much ..I was at home from last month..rest make some problem better but day after tomorrow I am joining work but I know standing and working make my condition worse..does anyone knows what is follow up appointment with gynecologist ? I am taking only painkillers for pain .I hope they do my operation after this appointment.

I think you need to speak to your GP about your reactions when taking the new meds and also your concerns about Sertraline and insomnia. There are other antidepressants, if need be.

I have never taken Sertraline, but I have had tramadol. I found it made me sleepy, so it would be good to take at night, the problem I had was that then 4-5 hours later I would be awake again. But you will want to check out first whether it caused your reactions last night.

Insomnia is so hard because worrying about not sleeping can stop you sleeping! Especially when you are worried about being fit for work the next day. Some of the things that seem to work are getting a nighttime routine, going to bed at the same time, avoiding using phone, TV etc before bed, being warm, I find having a shower before bed helps, listening to soothing music or sounds in bed.

Personally I read until I am almost asleep, it keeps my mind occupied from worries.

I also find writing down all my thoughts and worries etc in any order, just for myself, helps to deal with them, you could try that in the evening? Also if you are worried about the next day, make a list of what you need to do, or even a plan, and then try to put it out of your mind till the morning as it is “dealt with”.

Another technique I use if I am getting carried away with negative thoughts is to stop and focus on where I am right now - naming objects around me, sounds I can hear, etc. I have only started that recently and it really works for me.

I hope you can get something that works for you, getting the pain under control will obviously help everything. Hope you have a better day x

Hi, I started on sertaline about 7 weeks ago and omg I have only been sleeping for 2-3 hours a night.. I was given naproxen for back pain and zopiclone to help with sleep and still had the same problems. The psychiatrist then increased the dosage to 100 mg and problems became worse so I was given diazepam and phenegan to take on top of it all!! I have now dropped down to 50 mg and my sleep is a little bit better 3-4 hours but I have changed doctors because there are other antidepressants and sertaline doesn’t work for me.. I have had 4 uti’s since starting on it and 4 courses of antibiotics, I had to stay in hospital for 2 nights and have mri scan and ultrasound scan on my kidneys which showed up scarring from the 4 uti’s!! I am 47 and although I have been diagnosed with GAD I have never had these problems before.. I hope this helps you with the decision to come off sertaline and try another antidepressant..
