10cm cyst and significant endiometrosis

I was due to have an operation to remove a 10cm cyst in my left ovary, consultant said it was quite a simple procedure for him, i would have a major op and have 12 week recovery, i asked when this would take place so i could arrange childcare and work commitments, i was advised within 3wks he sent me for a CT scan, ive heard no more from him. I have since managed to get in-touch with his secretary and she said a letter would come out, 3weeks later after I’ve chased/stalked the poor postie, only for the letter to say they now need MRI as they have found “further masses on my tight ovary and significant evidence of endiometrosis “ ive still not heard anything so i wrote a letter to my GP who has chased this up and i have been transferred yo a different hospital for triactry care and my appointment for consult only is now 01/02/2022 i cannot get my head around this.

I know i should be more positive but ive now organised with my work that im going off for 3mths which im now not and i have had to explain to my child who's autistic that im now no longer going into hospital (not for a while)

I understand i need specialt surgery but can’t understand why original surgeon said id be in for op and now ive got to wait …surely my 10cm cyst will only get bigger and god knows what size the right “masses” are.

Why is endiometrosis specialist got such a long waiting list? Now my gp says she might put me on the implant until i get my consult

I am going through a very similar thing myself. Have one cyst which is 16cm and on the other ovary 6cm which have formed kissing ovaries I was originally told I'd be in for surgery by July (in march).

Now I'm under bsge centre and have been told I have stage 4 endo, it won't be this year which seems crazy as I agree I feel like I'm getting worse and I can see this 22cm mass when I lie down. My consultant just said he can't see into the future so he has no idea when it will be.

It's so hard and frustrating when you have children and work to sort out. My job literally has someone waiting in the wings to start my role.

Hope you get some news soon. I think it's hard when you have ten mins with them to get as much information as possible. They don't seem to understand that unclear messages create so much stress for us.

Take care

Thank you for your reply.

Gosh i feel maybe im as different them to yourself with yours being larger.

Timescales are horrendous and your right its trying to get as much info in such a short space of time.

I know their the experts but it would be good too have the reassurance of the professionals and maybe just kept in the loop.

I know i should be more positive as it’s obviously not as urgent as first thought.

Good luck with your journey and hope your looked after and on the roqd to recovery real soon

I'm so sorry to hear that you are suffering 🙁 I recently had a 5cm cyst removed, my Symptoms were so painful that I ended up getting admitted more than once. my cyst wasn't within the criteria for operating on, the last time I was admitted I refused to leave the hospital, shouting at doctors saying I couldn't cope anymore 🤬 they removed it the following day.

In your case I would definitely recommend that you get admitted then lay it on thick, ur cyst is a lot bigger than mine n the longer it's left the bigger ur chances are of the cyst perforating.

I think you've got enough to cope with without the added worry n stress of that possibility.

I have a 15yr old with hydrocephalus n aspergers, I understand how difficult it is for the child to understand change to their routine, not to mention that they pick up on your emotions 😟.

I hope that you will get seen sooner, if you want to chat plz pm me xxxx

Sorry you are still stressed- The waiting is worse- Hope you are able to enjoy

little things with your child- keeping them happy with your family around you at this time.

Endo impacts greatly on women,s lives- had similar cysts which meant surgery -past

history but had to wait over 18 month's. Wonder in this day and age why us woman

are left in pain etc.

Hope you stay well, safe wish I could give you hug but not possible

Enjoy and have yourself some me time- so to prepare for the next step
