I have my laparoscopy next Saturday to remove 9cm endometrioma cysts and stage 4 endo. did not know i had endometriosis until this but the past 5 months i have had constant pelvic pain so think my cyst may have been growing and it makes sense as i have always suffered from heavy painful periods but never thought it would be endo.
The surgeon hopes to preserve my fertility and ovaries as I do not have any kids yet (i'm 26) can i hear some good news stories of people who had large cysts removed successfully?! I'm so nervous! never been in hospital or had any surgery before so the whole thing is extremely daunting.
Thanks everyone!!

I can’t help on the cyst side, but surgery isn’t as bad as your imagination is telling you.I was absolutely terrified beforehand. On the day I was much calmer, but still scared. No reason to be at all, the staff are amazing, one minute the anaesthetist is talking to you, have an injection and nothing until you wake in recovery. A nurse will be there before and after. They’ll give any pain relief if you need it after. If you don’t like injections I use Emla cream and put it on the back of both hands.
You’ll see the consultant and anaesthetist before going to op room.
The main pain can come from gas inside that they use during op, I was ok after lap. Peppermint tea can help. Something baggy for home so you don’t have anything tight on stomach area.
After all that, the main thing is don’t let your imagination run riot 😀
