Curable health app - has anyone tried?

Has anyone tried the Curable health app to help with pain management?

The worse my endometriosis pain is, the more other pains I feel in my body, I’m on a high alert; I’m aware that some pain is triggered by my conditions and some is psychosomatic but I don’t know which ones are the latter as so much investigations and misinformation over the past months and years took place - and I’m looking into cognitive behavioural techniques to find help with pain management as I don’t want to rely only on pain medication (I also work with a psychotherapist, which I highly recommend to anyone struggling with a chronic condition and not only, and don’t intend to rely only on an app at this stage but would like something more in my toolkit) . This app looks quite interesting and I’m generally keen on testing new solutions like this, wondered if someone has tried it already and could share their experience? Or any other similar apps you tried?

Hi Monika I've used curable for migraine for a couple of years, it worked to some extent but only if you do it regularly, 3 or more times a week, and I have definitely had relapses. The pain science is very interesting and I found it useful to return to the lessons over and over until it sinks in. Listening once then moving on doesnt really work so well.

Surprisingly I found the writing exercises more helpful for pain than the meditations even though I had no idea what I was supposed to write!! My understanding is you need to write by hand (not type) to get the emotional connection to the brain.

You can get a free version of the app but I decided it was worth paying for the full version. Check the free version to make sure the narrators voice works for you as it is pretty much the same lady throughout !

I have recommended it to friends but I would say it's only worth the money if you are willing to use it several times a week, and now that I've had it a while I tend to use only 3 or 4 of my favourite sessions, so I might not subscribe again

Thanks MissPickles, that’s super useful feedback! I already use Headspace (meditation) app every day so I think I’ll trial Curable and see how these two could work for me alongside each other - when it comes to guided meditation, I find I’m quite sensitive to the sound of narrator’s voice, so your comment about it is quite spot on.

I haven't used that app no, but I do like using Glow :) it's a period and symptom tracker, you can print charts out for your doctor and it warns you about symptoms that are worrying etc. Really super useful when you want to map your pain, I know roughly when my worst days in the month will be now, really helps me plan ahead!

Hi CryBaby91, thanks for a great recommendation - I’ve been using the Clue app for years to track my menstrual cycle and some symptoms but it lacks more comprehensive view where I can see patterns and some basic analytics on my symptoms which relate to my cycle, I’ll have a look at Glow and how it compares with Clue, maybe I could transfer my data there if it’s better for this tracking :)

I used clue for a while too but like you said it wasn't as comprehensive as Glow :) this one even syncs up to smart watches so if you own one then it will all work together. My watch gives me a warning when I hit my fertile window, I know to take it easy then :) definitely worth a go! I pay for the premium version but there is a free one.
