Incision infections and healing

Hi everyone

I had my diagnostic lap two weeks ago where they found endo on my bowel bladder womb and somewhere I don’t remember. They also found and drained a cyst on my left ovary and removed the known right ovarian cyst. Unfortunately on the day surgeon changed from a female specialist and bsge endo specialist to a general gynae without warning.

I have four incision sites and two are now infected, I think it’s been worse as covid has meant repeated calls to hospital and gp only meant being seen today to have the stitches removed. Nurse said they’d have never dissolved on their own as too much left externally which has caused the irritation.

My bikini line incision is by far the worst and has now opened slightly with pus on one side. The MALE surgeon stitched me completely wrong and basically pinched my underbelly and bikini line together in an unsymmetrical tight and bunched up line which has meant the stitch sites themselves are now bigger as tore when I moved because guess what I have a belly and I’m just so pissed off. It’s so sore the nurse has said there is nothing I can do except antibiotic cream I’ve been described today and airing it.

I’m literally having to spend hours lying flat with my belly and bikini line out and it’s just so demoralising embarrassing and infuriating!

I’d warned him before I’m prone to infection from stitches and keloid scaring and guess what I’m right. Even more frustrating is one on my right is a perfect little X and I don’t mind it at all and already completely healed! So it’s clearly these he took less car over and it’s so frustrating.

Any advice on incision healing would be so so appreciated.

Thank you all x

Hi Claire,

It sounds as if you've had a hard time of it lately.

I had an incision infection after I had my gallbladder removed.

It had to be cleaned and re-dressed every day for a couple of weeks at least. I was also put on several different strong antibiotics.

I wasn't told to leave it uncovered though!

IF you get any flu-like symptoms, treat it seriously as infections can lead to sepsis. Just saying!

Hope you improve soon.

After my opp, 3 weeks later I had infection, and temperature hot and cold, they send me straight back into hospital as my belly stitch line puffed up, they put me on antibiotics straight away , if you feel any of them symptoms contact DR emergency straight away, I had to lay and air mine to ever day
