1 Week after laparoscopy and the familiar pain still there!

Hi all, just really looking for a bit of advice/reassurance!

I had my laparoscopy last week to diagnose endo. Surgeon didn't tell me which stage I had etc. but said they did find and remove some on my lower pelvis. I'm recovering fine, apart from the usual pain (stitches/bruising/breathing tube removal), but that all too familiar pain is still there! After looking at my period tracking app I am at ovulation time and that numbing pain I was getting before the surgery is still happening!

Am I just hoping for too much too soon or is this it for life? I really hoped the removal would help my pain so a little deflated/down that the pain is still happening.

thanks in advance

x

Just remember that the surgery is in the same place as the endo was and your body doesn't know the difference. You need to give yourself a few weeks even if it was mild. The discharge note should say.

I know it does but I'm guessing my mind likes to think the worst as its the same numbing pain as before and completely different from the surgery/recovery pain.

Sometimes my mind is my own worst enemy when it comes to this and I guess I've lived with the pain for so long I was hoping it would just be gone but know deep down its probably not the case :)

Your mention of 'the usual pain (stitches/bruising/breathing tube removal)' suggests you have had previous laps?

No never had surgery but family members have and the nurse/surgeon warned me of the pains you would expect after having surgery

Oh I see. I think I'd get a copy of the lap re[ort to see what was found and done.

Give yourself time. I had my lap in Sept and had endo excised and it’s only these last few weeks I have felt better. Have plenty of rest x
