Anyone here been on Gabapentin for chronic pelvic pain? I've been on it for 2 years now and not sure it is actually doing anything and I wonder if I should stop taking it ? Any advice would be grateful xx

I have pregabalin and often wonder the same as I’m still in pain every day, think it has helped slightly with pain that went down my legs. My consultant advised my nerves have been damaged by stage 4 endo and the a few extensive surgeries. Is that what you’ve been told too? Xx

This is more or less what I was told. due to me being post menopausal it is not really endo pain, but just that the nerves are still triggered??! Not convinced.

Hi Thanks for your reply I'm stage 1 endos I think my consultant never really said other than when I had my surgery last year he removed it from both ovaries and behind my uterus and pouch of Douglas area. ive been on Gabapentin for 2 years just wondered how it helps endo pain and i forget alot of things and im starting to think it's the tablets? xx

Hi, hope you’re having a good day?! I was also on Gabapentin for a while, it is a nerve blocker, but like yourself I started to wonder if it helped much as I still took paracetamol. I think GP’s try most nerve blockers to help with endo because I’m now on pregablin like the other lady. Again it’s not really helping much and I’m still taking paracetamol on top of it. Unfortunately endo is a difficult one to treat, even after surgery. If you do find something that helps please share. Take care big hug x

Thank for for your reply I tend to get pains in my bottom area as well as my belly. I take ibufoen on and off and the doctor did prescript tramadol which helps a little but it does give me a weird feeling and I feel nausous i only take that when i feel like my insides feel like they want to fall out sorry for my bad spelling xx

I just started taking it a few weeks ago. I am not at all sure how effective it is as the pain fluctuates anyway. Not as effective as the diclofenac was but I am unable to take that any more. Gabapentin only addresses nerve pain. I am on quite a low dose but I think it makes me a bit more sleepy than usual so wouldn’t really like to increase it. It seems to be the last option for me, unfortunately.

Sorry not much help!

If you are stopping it talk to your doctor, I believe you need to stop it gradually.

Hi thanks for your reply, i think i will have a chat with the doctor as I'm unsure what to do I take the normal painkillers like paracamols / ibufoens and when its really bad i will take tramadol but that makes me feel a bit strange and I can't sleep on it I'm awake for hours like I've had to many coffees. I do hope it helps you thou xx
