Hi ladies I'm needing so serious advice I'm determined to end norethisterone pretty soon but I'm super super scared to do so as I've been on it for a full year almost now straight no breaks! I need some personal advice from ladies that's been on norethisterone like me and need to know how bad it was the withdrawal bleeding and I getting scared due to people saying I COULD DIE!!! wtf is that true..... reasons why I've been on the meds for so long is cause my gyne put me on them till I get a date for my OP which unfortunately hasn't happened yet! But I'm fed up of waiting and staying on the norethisterone it's been great and not great at all and I need some advice and reassurance

Hi hun,

I was on norethisterone for around 2 months (so granted not as long as yourself) however I begged my consultant for an alternative / to come off because it was making me incredibly sick (literally vomiting every day) with terrible headaches from the minute I woke up in the morning.

My Dr advised that bleeding can be heavy and painful however he prescribed me tranexamic acid to help combat the bleeding and it really does work! Make sure you ask for this I definitely recommend it and they can add it to your repeat to take with every period to help ease bleeding without any side effects.

The good thing about tranexamic acid is that you can take it alongside your normal pain killers (e.g I'm still taking mefenamic acid, paracetamol and codeine too) to keep me at bay until my surgery (like you I'm currently waiting for the date).

Hope this helps lovely promise it wasn't bad at all coming off them.

Aye I've been getting spotting on and off like FREAK uncharted moments nothing major though like but the period cramps can be extreme also plus weight gain too ... I've also been getting alot of acne out breaks too but with been on norethisterone for 12 months almost is the very longest I've ever been on them and I'm just dreading it when I come off it due to the withdrawal bleeding and pain etc ... my gyne wants me to stay on it till Jan 2021 but I dont think I can as it's making my anxiety go through the roof ... I'm only 28 also and waiting for an elaboration but my gynes consultant want me to go back in and get my womb examined to see if it be okay for me to have a lactoscopie hysterectomy cause I cant and wont have the Marina coil fitted as I've tried all sorts of medications and injections including prostate 3 and that failed ... I'm so worried right now
