Nausea and surgery

I am 10 days post op and have chronic nausea. Does anybody else have this? I got it all the time before surgery but I assumed it would have gotten better after surgery once the inflammation was gone.

No idea, I’m seven days in but see no signs of it subsiding. It’s the gas through the belly button isn’t it? I had awful diaphragm pain afterwards.

Yes that gas is horrible when it hits but this is just a pit feeling in my stomach ALL the time. I can hardly move.

I am 4 weeks post op, after 2 weeks I passed out then couldn’t stop throwing up. I was admitted back to hospital where the sickness continued even with anti sickness. It stopped after a few days but I think I have pulled the internal stitches. Try to get something from the gp. The hospital said it was a reaction to surgery but I thought this was strange after 2 weeks. Hope u feel better soon. X

Oh dear you poor thing! I hope you start to feel better now! I have been taking anti sickness tablets for a week now but they still don’t work. The only thing that worked was hospital injections but I don’t want to go back there 😟

I’m sorry you’re feeling so sick. You could very well still be sick from the anesthesia. You’re only 10 days post op. Inflammation inside the body can take 6-9 months to subside. Just because your incisions are closed doesn’t mean you’re healed on the inside. You’ve just been through a serious surgery. It took my body weeks to be able to stomach much more than apple sauce.

So I have 17 chronic illnesses and they all play a part in my severe chronic nausea. I have to take chemo level nausea pills with cannabis and some days I still can’t eat. I say this because I have some tips that I have found helpful over the years. Try something frozen. I find when I have really bad nausea it’s the only thing I can eat. I am on a super restrictive diet so I have to make my own freezies 😂. But either that or I freeze grapes and I find the cold helps. Ginger tablets really help but don’t take them on an empty stomach. Take them with food (I find I burp them really bad and it makes things worse). I find a hot heating pad on my stomach helps to alleviate some nausea. I don’t know if you have it there (I’m in Canada) but ginger ale always helps me some. If you can’t stop the nausea just try and focus on getting fluids down and whatever food sounds good at the moment.

Don’t be so hard on yourself, be gentle and kind.

Thank you for your advice! 6-9 months sounds so long but I guess we have to understand what we went through. Yes I agree with the frozen foods, at the moment all I can stomach is ice and ginger tablets. I will defs try the frozen grapes and heat bags and ginger ale. I guess I was just hoping that it would subside soon but I guess I need to ride it out for a while. 😫
