Hi Louboo,

I generally suffer with my lower discs anyway, but over the last 2 yrs every time I ovulated I was in a lot of pain mainly on my left side down my back to the front of my tummy and into my hip and down my leg, I believe this was sciatica, also brought on by ovulation and impending monthly cycle., I recently had hysterectomy and ovaries removed, guess what? Pain is gone. Apparently females secrete a hormone that causes inflammation In our Gynae parts. I can’t remember medical terms. I still have degenerative discs but I’ve no more related period pains.

Ah that’s really interesting to know, thank you😊 I generally suffer every cycle around this time with pain in hips but today the pain is definitely more around my back also and the sciatic pain I get is travelling down my bum into my legs. The joys of being a woman! I’m waiting for an appointment to see my consultant which has been delayed from March and I was going to ask about the possibility of a hysterectomy so knowing having one has been a bit of a positive for you really helps 😊xx

Someone recommended to me to ask my doc for a low dose antidepressant to help with the low moods after having a hysterectomy, I had my ovaries removed which sent me into premature menopause, I was dreading this part because my mother was a bear and I was afraid I would end up like her. After 2 wks of recuperation I was so low and angry. I went to GP. He put me on v low does anti depressant and I haven’t looked back since, that was 8 wks ago.

Forgot to mention that I can’t use HRT or anything that encourages estrogen because I had Breast cancer 2 yrs ago. But as it turns out the anti depressant has helped immensely.

As for the Sciatic pain that you feel especially during your ovulation /menstruation. I’d recommend hysterectomy to anyone suffering with severe pain. It actually took for me to monitor my own body and put 2 and 2 together, I spoke about this with my Gynae,as it turned out after the op he told me that my uterus was v vascular and v large and wasn’t surprised that I was in pain, bar discs I’m menstraution pain free, no sciatic pain. I was worried about the op but I actually sailed through it and I won’t look back.

So glad it’s working out well for you. You’re a strong woman having beaten Breast Cancer too and then going through the hysterectomy ❤️ I’m on anti depressants anyway due to having an anxiety disorder. I’m

42 and have 2 kids with no intentions of having anymore. This pain is occurring every time I ovulate and then a couple of days before my period starts so for pretty much 2 weeks of every month, I’m in severe pain. It’s really starting to have a massive impact on family life and my own personal mental health so I would just rather have it all out!! Xx

You sound very strong and determined and if it’s causing your anxiety to escalate then do what you have to do.. try read up on salpingo oophorectomy ( robotic assisted,I have 4 tiny tiny scars )and other types of hysterectomys before you see you Gynae so that you are informed. Consultants have a habit of not listening to us .Try to read only positive things if you can. I came across a lot of negative articles which is not good for u in the long run. Goodluck and stay strong..it will all get better xx

Yes, certainly. It took me a while to work it out but definitely severe pain in my back on two sides when I ovulate. I now have a Mirena coil which has helped a great deal, but was horrendous for the first year of use!

I tried the Mirena Coil but it turned me into a raging psychopath 🤣 I lasted 3 months on it plus I bled constantly on it so it was useless having it in as it defeated the whole point of it! My body doesn’t respond well to any progesterone contraception. I’ve tried the mini pill, implant, injection and the coil and I’ve bled constantly on all of them and they’ve all turned me either very depressed or really angry! X

That’s awful. I had a horrendous year of bleeding about 28 days per month - like reverse periods. The pain was lessened by the coil though and the alternative was going to be a hysterectomy - just as I’d decided to go back and ask for the operation, it began to settle and now I have much less pain and problems. I’m dreading getting it changed though - I can’t go through that crap again! 😝
