Yeah I have already thought I will have my phone and I will take books to read it’s just the thought of being alone. It’s nhs but at a private hospital xxx
I know what you mean. I initially had a couple of people with me, which was great, but other factors came into play as someone disabled needed some medication collecting. The surgery prescribed something knowing I had the op and the person couldn’t go and collect.
To be honest, on my own I could just read or drift off and I was ok. The consultant and anaesthetist come round and nurses were distractions. After the op I was sleepy and didn’t really think about it. I made a couple of calls and sent texts.
You’ll be ok, it’s easier than you imagine, you’ve been strong in getting to this point, it is scary. It’s all part of it 🙂, nothing that isn’t normal thinking. You should have your own tv as well.
If you are more worried on the day, they may allow someone with you and worth double checking on the day. There is never any harm in asking. It’s possible this will have all changed by then as well, or at least relaxed the guidelines. The anaesthetist is likely to have more say on that side of it for less stress.
Hello! Great to hear you have a date through for surgery. Do you mind me asking when you went on the list/ how long you have waited to get the date though? - just trying to get an idea of wait time etc what with the current situation. Thanks in advance 😊
I had my consultation the start of feb and they said they were putting me on the list then, I have had issues with pain and zoladex injection and hrt so I have been in contact with a endo nurse and she spoke to my consultant 2 weeks ago and got a phone call today giving me the date. X
Mine is scheduled for tomorrow and I’m the same with having no one with me etc..
I felt so scared and so nervous once they first told me the date, however after having the pre op a couple days ago I feel so much better. Just make sure you write down all your questions and all your worries! The hospital I’m going to are pretty good and said one of the nurses can be with me before and after surgery. But I definitely suggest using FaceTime or something. That’s what I’m going to do! I have also found trying meditation each night useful. If you download headspace there’s loads of short meditation sounds on there!
